Physical Therapy Results

Thursday, August 30, 2012

I know I haven't blogged in awhile but I feel like I should now since it will be the end of my two weeks of laziness. My ankle has been hurting a lot since I started my 2nd job and I'm standing for at least 4 hours. Because of this my arthritis dr sent me for physical therapy. I was freaking out the other day as to how I'm going to fit this in. Right now my day consists of working from 7-4 during the week, fit in dinner and then work from 6-10. This week I only have 1 night off from my night job. I broke down at 2nd job the other day and they told me they would work around whatever I needed. That was very nice of them since I have only been there a month.

Anyway, I made it to physical therapy and I was told I couldn't run for a bit while we figure out what is going on. But, I CAN STILL DO MY WEIGHT LIFTING! NROLFW HERE I COME!

He also said when I am able to run again I need to get new shoes that are either New Balance, Asics or Saucony and have to use inserts. I just got the inserts from Amazon and hope to be able to go for a small 20 minute run this weekend... just to see the difference. Clearly I would never dismiss the drs. instructions.

Off to weight lift!

I am sorry to hear about the PT situation. I was in PT for my knee for 12 weeks (6 wks before surgery and 6 wks after) and it was a huge hassle. Most of the programs you can do at home, on your own but they have to "monitor" what you do so you have to go in. It sucks. But if it's necessary to heal, then do it.

Due to my knee injury/surgery, I have to use decent shoes for any activity. What I find most important is that the fit is good. Ascis fit me really well but New Balance are a no go. It's nothing bad about them, they are just cut to fit differently. So what I am saying is, try all of them on. You may even need to buy another pair if the first pair don't feel good after a few workouts. And by all means, don't skimp. Shoes from discount stores (despite being name brand) are generally of lesser quality.

Where are you on NROLFW ?
