People are Good

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

We went to a wonderful grocery store sandwich spot with my DS for lunch... the lunches got started years ago when the guys working in the butcher shop started making sandwiches for themselves at lunch time. Anyway, the place in a neighborhood institution.. being run by the third generation of the family. A young boy in the neighborhood needed a wheel chair to go to middle school. He has birth defects that severely limit his oxygen intake and in middle school they move from class to class. So the guys in the store put up a jar to collect money for a wheelchair for Noah. THey collected $1800 in a week. They were able to buy two chairs... a light weight one for school and a motorized one for outside. Any remaining monies (they still have the jar out) will go into a trust fund for medical expenses insurance doesn't cover. One woman donated $100, $10 for each one of her healthy grandchildren. People really are good at heart given the chance.

This is a GREAT story. There are GOOD, and even GREAT people out there. We just don't hear as much about them as we do the others. THANKS for sharing NOAH's story.
