You read correctly.
Tonight, I got lost in the woods with my dog.
I go out with my 4-wheeler so the dog can get some exercise while I have fun riding.
I got to the end of a gravel pit and got off the 4-wheeler because I could see a path in the woods. I wanted to see where it was going so I started walking in it. Then I went to see a big pine tree, but when I turned around to get out, I managed to go the wrong way.
When I realised I could not see my path, I tried to find the big pine tree again.
I found one,but i'm not sure it was the same one.
I climbed up(thanks to doing zumba that got me strong and limber enough to do that) but still I could not see my machine or the side of the woods.
Then I knew I was in trouble.
Thank GOD I had my cel phone (it was not far from sun down).
I called my neighbor, explained where I was, told him to find my 4-wheeler and told him to yell out to me so I could follow his voice.
He went to get somebody else and they came out to where I was.
I can tell you now that I was not very far from where the 4-wheeler was but had I continued walking-I was getting farther and farther away.
I was not at all where I though I was.
I kept thinking about a presentation from Search and Rescue where they said instead of walking in circles Stop and HUG a tree.
So I stood still and listened for my neighbors voice.
I was expecting to hear it right in front of me, but it was coming wayyyyy off at the left.
If I had continued walking, I would still be in the wood walking AWAY from where i went in.
The only time I got a little scared is when my idiot dog looked at something in the woods and growled. It was probably a tree that looked different.( I hope!!!)
I was just hoping they did not have to call search and rescue.
How embarrassing th
