Last night SP was giving me a fit! I was so scared that they had made some kind of updates that wouldn't work with my voice program that I use to navigate the web. I'm all for web sites updating and keeping it all fresh, but give us blind users a break!

Now, for the 2nd time this week, (it is only Wed. BTW) I stopped receiving SP notifications of when people respond to message boards or blog or comment on my blogs.... I know this is ComCast's fault. They keep allowing this BS SPAM to come in but call stuf ffrom Spark People SPAM. Not only that, but anything that comes from the VA Community College System is SPAM too. It doesn't appear I can fix this either! I've complained to SP, I've complained to ComCast and no answers.

I could not live and do what I do without technology, but at times I think they just update stuff to keep people in jobs. I'm OK with that too, but make it worthwhile. All the updates they made to the program we use for distance learning made it even harder for sighted people to use.... Why? If it isn't broken why is there always this need to fix it? Upgrade it? Make it more difficult for those of us who can't see, but still want to live a full and active life? Not just blind people, but elderly people who are not computer savvy too! What are we to do? Every day will I have to go in and uncheck the box that says "never E-mail me again" on SP? I took myself out of all the daily E-mails from SP b/c those are what kept not allowing me to get notifications and now it is happening again for no apparent reason. Grrrr!

so, all that is bad enoug hfor me to gripe about, but the pool is totally messed up. Soemthing is making the chlorine "die". The water is cloudy and it will not hold any chlorine. the fix? Drain the pool and start all over or add 65 pounds of chlorine at 3 hour intervals which will take 42 hours. I suppose we are supposed to stay up for 42 hours to take care of that.... Yeah, right. Sat. is Sept. 1, so are we going to drain the pool and start all over? No way! We'll wait it out until it is too cool for the pool at all and then we'll close it for winter and hope it rights itself with the winter chemicals.

Our hot water tank just blew, so we had to replace it. The pool is a total mess. ComCast makes my life difficult. But, hey, life is good!

    Argh! You are having all that stuff at once! My sympathies. I struggled w/ the SP not sending me notices - I must have spent about a month plus going in an checking the box almost every day. Eventually, it got fixed. My current fun thing is a software program that doesn't automatically update. I have to remove the program, download the new install file and reinstall. It makes me crazy.

    Melissa, sorry everything is acting up for you. I have been having stupid stuff coming through in my e-mails like crazy! I'm not very happy about it! I TOTALLY agree with you... leave stuff alone if it doesn't need to be fixed!

    I'm sorry Comcast is being a PIA. Wish I new something about computers so I could help you. Unfortunately I know barely enough to use these things.
