I have actually been doing really well with my eating habits lately. I plan out my meals and portion out everything at the beginning of the day. So it often comes as a surprise to many people that I am not consuming several thousand calories a day because I do eat constantly. In fact, my coworkers often comment about how often I eat at work.
I probably consume a quarter to a third of my daily calories in snacks. I think I am just one of those people who has to have something to eat every couple of hours or my brain just stops working and I get cranky.
So this is my typical day:
* 7am - Breakfast
*10am - snack
12pm - lunch
3pm - snack
6pm - snack (this is usually on my drive home and much smaller than my other snacks)
7:30pm - dinner
My snacks usually comprise of a serving of fruit or veg and lean protein (low fat dairy or nuts). Plus, since I have a serving of fruit or veg with each meal and snack, it makes it very easy to get my 5 daily servings in. I also try to make each serving of fruit/veg something different and in a variety of colors...that way I can try to maximize the nutrients from eating the rainbow.
