Tuesday Fun or Hunkered down for the Hurricane

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Today has been a mixed bag...all day...rain, sun, wind, rain, wind, sun...on and on and on! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

The good news was that they changed our warning from hurricane to tropical storm and that was great!

Our lights flickered several times but we still have electricity!

TV is another matter...we have satellite and when it rains, the dish can't pick up the signal so we get a message..."Searching for Signal"...I usually sing the Rawhide song...instead of "Rolling, Rolling, Rolling" I sing "Searching, Searching, Searching!"

I've been singing a lot today emoticon

Water, water everywhere! Our yard is probably flooded, but since it's dark, I can't see it. We have tornado watches since we're on the "bad" side of the hurricane. I just hope they continie as watches...

Sounds like we're going to have at least another 24 hours of this...

Here's an awful story...some jerk was sailing his sailboat in Mobile Bay this afternoon (probably trying to take it somewhere) and his engines failed. It was windy with a very rough Gulf. He called the Coast Guard who rescued him but left the boat. It rocked and rolled and finally hit some electric lines by the Dauphin Island bridge which is south of Mobile and knocked the power out for Dauphin Island. I hope they throw him in jail. What was he thinking? Oh right, he wasn't thinking!

I wish the best for Louisiana and Mississippi...they closed the casinos in Biloxi, MS, at 10 AM, and kicked out all the guests. I know the Coast of Mississippi is really going to get hit with flooding. The people are in my thoughts. Let's all wish them the best...

My thoughts are with all those suffering from the flooding!! I've heard people making fun of those who they thought were "panicking" over a little nothing storm..but I say better safe than sorry!! PLUS if YOU were the one hanging onto the roof of your house while flood waters were carrying YOU away...well, I don't think you'd think it was too funny! Wind is bad, but people seem to forget how much damage water can do...
Anyway..I was glad for US when we got downgraded to tropical storm warning, but I pray for the safety of others.

Glad to hear it wasn't so bad for you -- I know my heart/thoughts go out to the folks in Miss. and Louisiana. We are expecting flooding here this weekend in parts of Indiana from the storm....don't know how far north though. (since I'm in lower part of the very northern part of the state.
I agree some people DON"T think about their safety OR others when they do 'dumb things'.....
Keep safe.

Juney, they had everyone here so hyped up about this storm and we have had sprinkles, a bit of wind, and much sun. So not that i'm upset just that maybe we get a bit too excited too early.....but better safe than sorry....at least now I have plenty of water and canned goods for a bit. lol. Always a bright side.

Isaac seemed to have taken another wobble to the west...the hurricane force winds look like they'll just miss us here, but we're getting dumped on with water, also being on the "bad" side of the storm. We're "sheltering" in my church bldg and so far, haven't lost power. And yes, at least another 24 hours of this. yay. I just blogged about it, too.

I'm glad you are safe and still have power. We can relate to the T.V. outages. Story of our lives. LOL.
