Women of Faith 2012

Monday, August 27, 2012

I went to the Women of Faith Conference this past weekend in Indianapolis with a few friends. We had an amazing weekend! We had great seats! We in section 5, and I got us isle seats. So much easier than crawling over people!

Here we are: Dana, Christina, myself, and Trish:

Goofing around:

Mandisa put on an amazing show! It was like a concert, she sang a ton of songs. I have always loved her music, but seeing her perform live made me love her even more! She sounds great in person as well! Some singers don't sound that great when they are live.

Amy Grant was great too! I grew up listening to her music, so hearing her sing brought back so many memories! I bought her CD there. It's one that you can only buy at the Women of Faith events, and has music from the past and some of her newer songs. I love her song "Better than a Hallelujah" which is on there.

Amy Grant:

The host was Sandi Patty. I had been to one of her concerts when I was younger. She was a great host!

Sandi Patty:

Mark Lowry was there, he was hilarious! I had never heard his comedies. I was laughing so hard! I had no idea that he was the one who wrote and sings "Mary Did You Know"- I love that song!

Mark Lowry:

Patsy Clairmont was there, she is such a doll! Very cute and funny! She told a hilarious story about her and her husband's hearing aids.

Patsy Clairmont:

Marilyn Meberg was there, as well. She is a psychologist, full of knowledge! I bought her book "Constantly Craving" at the Family Christian Store. I wanted to buy it there, but I could use my 25% coupon at the bookstore. She talked about fear. She told a story about looking out her window and seeing a bobcat in her birdbath!

Marilyn Meberg:

The bobcat in Marilyn's birdbath:

Brenda Warner was there. She had such an amazing testimony. Her first husband had dropped their son on his head in the bathtub when he was four months old. They were not sure if he was going to make it. He did, but definitely has some challenges! One was that the injury caused him to be blind (he can see slightly out of his right eye). Her husband had told her he loved another woman. She got divorced, her parents died, things were just not going well... But God pulled her through it all! She is now married to Kurt Warner (professional football player) and her son was there with her. It was so cool when they brought him up on stage with her!

Brenda Warner:

Kelly Minter was also there. She is brand new to Women of Faith. She has a new Bible study called "Nehemiah" which is about rebuilding walls and dealing with the "rubble" in our lives. She also talked about finding the "nuggets" in the scriptures, especially the Old Testament books that most think are "boring." If you pray for God to open your eyes, He will show you things in those books that are so important and relevant to our lives today!

Kelly Minter:

They also had a painter there named Mike Lewis. He started drawing on a blank canvas. It started with a cross and a group on people at the other end. Then you could see someone on their hands and knees in front of the cross, and it looked like a bridge. Suddenly he starts paining long black lines all over everything. It ended up being Jesus!

At one point, they asked everyone to light up their cell phones and hold them up. It looked like how they do lighters at concerts.

Anyways, it was an AMAZING weekend with great friends and we all came home spiritually refreshed! We are definitely going back next year!
