Well, I still find myself being amazed that I was so unaware of how many calories I'd been eating previously. I'm starting my third week of food logging, and have been updating my log when I get home from work so that I have a good idea of what dinner should look like.
I'm going to try to make food logging an established habit. It sounds like successful maintainers are often loggers.
I'm building on my really good exercise habit. I've been reading an interesting book, "The First 20 Minutes" about fitness. She describes a study that showed how women who had been exercising regularly for years benefitted mightily in overall health, and seldom gained the few pounds per year that most of us pack on. So I'm pleased with myself about that.
But, the food thing. Now I know why I wasn't losing weight even when I intensified my workout. And I haven't lost any yet, but I'm not cutting back all that much--I know, I know, I'm whining like I am. I tend to go in three-week cycles of weight loss, so I'm putting high hopes on next week's weigh-in.
That I have hope at all is kind of new, given how plateau'ed the year has been.
Thanks to Spark for making this logging thing such an eye-opening process.
