My Personal Mantra- I Touched the Snake

Monday, August 27, 2012

In the last few weeks I posted about conquering my biggest phobia and how it has helped me to take it into other parts of my life. I find I am still using it when faced with something I fear. I keep repeating to myself- "I touched the snake" This morning I had to give myself an injection that I had trouble with last week. Since I expect to be on this medication for quite a long time I know I have to deal with it. This morning I was able to do the injection with very little trouble and it didn't hurt as bad as last time. Part of that is by mistake last week I used my inner thigh as the injection site and due to working out a lot i found out the hard way I had more muscle down there than I realized and that is what hurt. So today i used my belly area- lots of fat there and so it didn't bother me this morning nearly as much.

So I have learned that facing your fears can have some long term benefits.

I've heard that giving shots in the belly are easier to take than at some other sites!

Fears give us the chance to prove our strength. Keep it up.

The Marines say that is a character building event to conquer a fear. Sorry you are taking meds but you have faced a big fear. We are stronger than we know.
