Trick title.
Can you imagine a life like this? Imagine these poor beautiful beasts being kept in a near-constant state of pregnancy, each foal being taken away immediately, only to be inseminated again and again. Hooked up for urine collection day after day after day!
I'll keep my hot flashes gracias.
We are still grieving the loss of Onyx, our beloved senior mare who was ridden to near-death and then thrown away. We were blessed to have her for two years and two months before she passed at age 26.
Zeus, her partner on the trails for 15+ years and her loving companion during her retirement here is very lonely and is also grieving.
Later this evening we will be getting our next rescue mare. Meg was a Premerin baby and was adopted from Canada 11 years ago, all skin and bones. Unfortunately her savior can no longer afford to keep her due to job loss and divorce. She will have a forever home here for as long as she needs it.
She is Not a replacement for our beloved Onyx, but another mare in need and we are so very blessed to be able to have her. RIP Onyx, knowing that your Zeus will no longer be alone.

Well, by now Meg must be all settled in and enjoying the new life she has with Zeus and your loving family. I am so happy for her, and hope she is fitting in well and assuaged some of Zeus's grief at being alone... So sorry to be so late in responding to this and not being there for you at the time.

So happy to hear you are getting a new companion! She looks beautiful, her face reminds me a lot of my beloved OTTB. She looks like she is going to be a beauty! Take good care of her, Zeus and yourself.

Sorry about Onyx. You are doing such a good job rescuing animals. I am an animal lover but I go for smaller such as cats and dogs. Keep up the good work.

Onyx would want your heart to be open to a new baby . . . and it sounds like Meg will need your TLC.

Francesca you are a hero. Truly. I only wish I had known you when our 2 needed a home---I was alone here with an injury and couldnt care for them as they deserved. NOONE would take them..they were both gorgeous family pets as well as wonderful show horses. It broke my heart to not be able to keep them. I GAVE them away, the stipulation being that I could visit whenever i wanted, and that if i deemed them not being well cared for they came back to ME. I also put in the contract that they could never be sold or given away, but that i would not take them other than in a case of neglect or abuse.
I finally did find a family to love them, but then she fell into the same problem as me, and we had to pick them up. Glen died shortly thereafter, Casey went to another good home until she passed at age 29 i believe? And yes i visited them..and gave them treats, and loved them.
I would have loved for them to be in such a loving, caring home as you provide. Meg is a lucky girl. Zeus is a lucky boy, and Onyx was so blessed to have you to love her and her to love you!
You and Papi are so very special...
