We had an amazing trip to Alaska. The cruise was wonderful, the scenery breathtaking, and I enjoyed spending 10 days with my wonderful daughter. We Ziplined in Ketchikan, along with going to the rainforest and a salmon hatchery. In Juneau we went to the Mendenhall Glacier and in Skagway we took a train ride and saw more beautiful scenery and shopped. We cruised through Glacier Bay, which was awesome, it's amazing how powerful glaciers are and we saw the Marjorie Glacier calving.

Reality called me back on Saturday though. We arrived home around 6pm on Friday, had issues with my son and then on Saturday my Mom started having health issues again. We spent the day yesterday in the emergency room, and she was admitted late yesterday. Hopefully she'll be able to come home Tuesday or Wednesday. Tuesday my brother is having back surgery at a different hospital, and today is my first day back to work. (I haven't been at work since August 9th, so it will be tough to go back, and it will be tough to concentrate with everything going on with my family!)

Good news is that I didn't gain much weight while we were gone. Only .2 pounds! Seeing my Mom and Dad over the weekend has made me more determined to live a healthy lifestyle so that I don't put my kids through what we are going through right now. If only my parents had knows 20 years ago what they know now, I think they would have changed their lifestyle. They suffer every day because of their poor choices. The thing that helps me get through is knowing that I am doing something to help myself, by living a healthy lifestyle, eating right and getting enough exercise.

That trip sounds AMAZING!!! It would be really hard to go back to work after being off for so long. Take care...and be good to you! I hope your Mom and brother see improvements in their health in the days to come. Keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouragement! Spark on! emoticon emoticon

You only gained .2 pounds while on your vacation?! That must be some kind of world record! GOOD JOB!

Sorry to hear about all the family waiting for you when you got back. Hopefully everyone gets better soon.

What a roller coaster of emotions you are going through!

Your trip sounded amazing! However, I am sorry that you came home to family health issues. And well your son...Ugh! so glad my is only 9yo while I am on this health journey. This way once I make it a habit you can bring on the older children dilemmas!

Be proud of you .02 weight gain...in June on my vacation I gained 4lbs and still struggling to get it off.

Hope everything else around you settles down as well.....think of those cool glaciers when everything starts piling up around you!
