We had an amazing trip to Alaska. The cruise was wonderful, the scenery breathtaking, and I enjoyed spending 10 days with my wonderful daughter. We Ziplined in Ketchikan, along with going to the rainforest and a salmon hatchery. In Juneau we went to the Mendenhall Glacier and in Skagway we took a train ride and saw more beautiful scenery and shopped. We cruised through Glacier Bay, which was awesome, it's amazing how powerful glaciers are and we saw the Marjorie Glacier calving.
Reality called me back on Saturday though. We arrived home around 6pm on Friday, had issues with my son and then on Saturday my Mom started having health issues again. We spent the day yesterday in the emergency room, and she was admitted late yesterday. Hopefully she'll be able to come home Tuesday or Wednesday. Tuesday my brother is having back surgery at a different hospital, and today is my first day back to work. (I haven't been at work since August 9th, so it will be tough to go back, and it will be tough to concentrate with everything going on with my family!)
Good news is that I didn't gain much weight while we were gone. Only .2 pounds! Seeing my Mom and Dad over the weekend has made me more determined to live a healthy lifestyle so that I don't put my kids through what we are going through right now. If only my parents had knows 20 years ago what they know now, I think they would have changed their lifestyle. They suffer every day because of their poor choices. The thing that helps me get through is knowing that I am doing something to help myself, by living a healthy lifestyle, eating right and getting enough exercise.
