My first ever Vision Collage - be kind!

Sunday, August 26, 2012

In my quest for challenges that will keep my butt in gear, I've joined the newest Biggest Loser challenge (BLC20). It's a little intimidating, because it's 12 weeks long, and, well, that's longer than any challenge I've done before. But I've got a great goal, beyond just hitting my final goal weight for New Year's Eve - if I lose the 18 lbs I'm shooting for during this challenge, I will have a healthy, or normal, BMI for the first time in a great many years!! Try and tell me that's not something worth giving my all for!

Like most team challenges, BLC20 has us doing pre-challenge prep, and a "vision collage" is being asked for this week. We were asked to find images that speak to our goals and inspirations for this challenge, so here's what I came up with, starting upper left corner and working around clockwise:

I love, love, love Jillian Michaels. I love her no-nonsense, take no prisoners attitude. I want to be her when I grow up emoticon So, who better to trust with whipping my backside into shape? I've got 30 Day Shred ready to go, 6 Week 6 Pack is waiting in the wings...

Current BMI: Overweight. Challenge goal BMI? Normal.

I think we've all found that our brain will tell us to quit long before our bodies do... Just have to re-train our brains!

This journey never really ends. The whole point is to keep growing, getting fitter, getting stronger. That means continually setting and achieving goals along the way.

My husband thinks I'm nuts, and I can't really argue... Who would have ever dreamed that a Puerto Rican girl would prefer running in winter temps than summer?! But I'm so looking forward to running outside, especially now that I've finished C25K!

I'm bound and determined to graduate from "girly" pushups to standard ones. I think I can do that in 12 weeks! Oh, and yeah, I'm shooting for the full 100...

I said I finished C25K - I never said I was fast. But that's ok. Dead last beats everybody sitting at home who didn't even try!

It's a long journey, and success doesn't happen overnight. It's a series of small steps that you have to string together.

Great blog and attitude! You're a woman of power! I enjoyed your collage being reminded of a phrase a dear friend of mine would say often, "I may not be where I need to be, but thank God I'm not where I used to be!" -- Joyce Meyer

Looking forward to the great celebration when you reach the healthy BMI that you have planned.

Awesome blog!!! I like your attitude!! Liked the finishing last is better than sitting on a couch and doing nothing! You got that right! Doing anything active is better than that! The more we sit the shorter our lives are!! Comiiting and changing to a healthy lifestyle takes work and in the long run it is so much better for you! It took me about a year and half to really get to where I changed things around- I am really slow! But, others have said that too! Still working on other things, it is a work in progress! And of course, more weight needs to come off!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thanks to your inspiration I joined BLC20. Now the weird thing, when I signed up I thought I was only wait listed so I signed up for the other one remembering you had said there were two, other than the TV one. Well, guess what, I got my email and like you I am now signed up for both. Not what I expected.

Love the collage. Something I have thought about doing over my years at Spark but have never done. Looks darn good. Way to go!
