The Wedding

Sunday, August 26, 2012

My son Brian's wedding went very well. Here's the break-down:

We discovered during rehearsal on Friday night that granddaughter, Ona, was more than a little hesitant to walk down the aisle as the miniature bride with the miniature groom. Since she's very close to me (we have her pretty much every Tuesday evening and from Friday to Saturday night or Sunday every week) I suggested that I would walk down the aisle with her and the mini groom. It wasn't that I wanted to, but it would be the best way to handle the situation.

As it was, the grandmothers and the mom's would be escorted down the aisle at the beginning of the processional and the bride's mother and I would have to go up to the alter to light the tapers that Brian and Tracie would use to light the unity candle. This meant two trips up the aisle for me. Ack! I am glad I lost that 31 pounds before the wedding as I felt more comfortable in my skin.

Here's Brian before the ceremony:

Anyway, here are walking down the aisle photos:
The first is younger son Mark walking his grandma's down the aisle (my mom is the lovely white-haired lady), then is me and Zach. Zach is a good friend of Brian who started out in my daycare years ago - he and Bri have been friends ever since. Then me and Ona and the mini groom ( I was looking down in all the photos. LOL). And then the bride, Tracie, with her younger brother - her dad passed several years ago.

I love this photo of my mom and boys:

Then Ona with her daddy and then with her new step mom:

The cutting of the cake:

At the reception, I pulled my sisters and mom up to dance. We had a great time. That was something I wouldn't have done before Spark!!

Oh Amy - Tears of joy and laughter on my check ! All of you look stunning. Ona a little shy ,reminded me of Vikira -she does the same thing , not Tatiana though, she bolts down the aisle. Seems as if the weather held up. You look Lovely , your Mom reminds me of my Mom , truly gorgeous. Happy to hear about dancing :) Hugs Karen emoticon

Great photos.. great looking you! great story, too... so wise of you to walk the 'kids' down the aisle to make it feel less frightening..I mean everyone is looking at them! and what a cutie...love the name Ona..... that's a new one to me.

.have seen weddings where the kids are literally pushed down the aisle, , and are so fearful and crying.. also was at one wedding years ago where the little flower girl decided to dance up front during the service... twirled around in her lovely dress, around the couple, the attendants who all attempted to stop her but she'd dance away until she sort of did a pole dance with the candelabras next to the altar, which swayed and all gasped and the priest stopped the service, and then a frantic, embarrassed dad.groomsman stepped out of the wedding party, picked her up and carried her screaming out a side door.. It was all on tape, too!

So,.. now enjoy your vacation..

Looks like a beautiful wedding and you are gorgeous! Of course so was everyone else! My little granddaughter is to be a flower girl at a friend's wedding in October. I'm not sure that she will walk down that aisle either. She is very very shy initially, although she will warm up eventually to a new situation, not sure that she will ever want to walk down that wedding aisle when she is asked to. IF, I have to walk down with her, as you did, I'm so happy I lost weight too. It's hard enough to do something like that but at least since the weight loss, I have more confidence and don't feel quite so hesitant about showing myself off to the public. Good for you for making the situation go well, Ona is adorable!
