Huntsville 10K Volksmarch

We got there before the Museum where the "walk box" is located opened so we went on over to take a picture with Sam Houston. If you have never seen it there along I-45, let me tell you it is impressive.

The walk started by going by the Steamboat House. The home Sam Houston was living in when he died. It was moved to its present location for preservation.

The walk went by the county courthouse built in 1970 is not impressive. Makes me wonder what the original looked like.

The walk also went by Sam Houston's grave.

And also the University Campus. Shown is the first building built for this institution of higher learning.

I've never been to Huntsville but a friend worked there for many years and has said, as you did, that the Sam Houston statue is most impressive. I really love the stairs outside the Steamboat House. Reminds me of a few homes back in the nicer older areas of Lexington, Kentucky. Love seeing these walking tour pictures!
