Giving this site another go

Saturday, August 25, 2012

I had joined up for awhile, but then kinda stopped coming. However, I've renewed my fitness goals, and so I'm back! I really love the sense of community here and how feeling accomplished and proud is kinda built into the site.

I recently quit my job at WalMart (I'll finish out the month) and as of this writing, I'll find out in a couple days if I got a job over at Joann's Fabrics and Crafts. If I do get the job, I'm going to join my local Snap Fitness gym. My cousins and several friends go there, so I'm going to know people already. So it'll be fun.

My body needs some changes, man. I've been having maybe... one period a year for the last couple years. I'm not sure if that's from my weight or my PCOS or if the PCOS is because of my weight or blah blah blah. I'm currently 373.2 pounds. And while I believe in health and confidence at any size, I just haven't been feeling very healthy lately. So time to change that!

Recently I was telling someone about this site and he asked.
'What does it do for you?'
    My answer is.................................

'It gives you all the tools to do it but it really has to be all you.'

    You can do it!

Even if you don't join SNAP, you can find ways to add exercise to your daily routine. The best commitment I've made in my weight loss journey is committing to tracking my food and exercise DAILY to SparkPeople. And each day I work through the list of Spark Points possible and try to earn 50 points a day. It forces me to go to areas of Spark that I might have overlooked otherwise. And I'm learning a tremendous amount about myself and about losing weight. I've been yo-yo dieting all my life and had some major success at weight loss (it's the KEEPING it off that I've had trouble with), so I thought I knew everything about nutrition. But I have learned SO much more on SP. But in spite of all I've learned on SP, I love it because of the people here. I've found true caring support like I've never experienced before. And regardless of my challenges, I find several options for solving them right here at SP. I still have a long way to go. I started my journey several months before joining SP at 380 lb. I was down to 350 when I joined SP in April, but it will probably take me 2-3 more years to get down to a healthy weight. So I'm hoping we can be friends and cheer successes, give a listening ear for challenges and even give the occasion kick in the butt if that's what we need. emoticon emoticon emoticon
