I bought a kitty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday, August 25, 2012

I have been waiting for YEARS to buy a kitten. Literally. I am turning 28 and havnt had a pet since living at home 10 years ago. Ive been a student and in carpy jobs and just not in the position to pay for the vet bills.

until now emoticon

I didnt sleep a wink last night for the excitment of getting a kitten this morning. (except for the nightmare I had in which involved me going to the humane society and there being no kittens left lol)I was at the humane society a few mintues before it opened . They had lots of cats and kittens but none of them *spoke* to me, I knew they werent for me (although super cute!) The lady told me that they had just sent a litter to petsmart....where they let the kittens roam the store, soooo cute and fun to shop for pet stuff.

Only 1 of them was short haired (my only must) and pure black - apparently black cats are the hardest to adopt. The file said she was also shy and timid, which made it even harder to get adopted...so I travel there, hold her for about 30seconds and yup, she was mine. An hour later and she is home!

And I think she was faking the shy timid thing because she has already explored my apt and regularly comes to me for short amounts of attention.

Here she is, whom Ive named Friday the 13th:

Aww, congrats! I think they're often shy/timid in the shelter and pet stores simply because of the unfamiliar surroundings, loud noises, random strangers approaching them, etc.

I love the last picture with her tail pointed straight out. She looks like she has plenty of spunk!

Good for you - it can be quite a shock when the shy kitten you found at the shelter breaks out of their shell and really shows their personality. We named ours "Monkey" because he has an extra toe on each front paw so truly has "monkey paws". Very shy but friendly once you held him at the shelter, he has been nonstop since we brought him home over 18 months ago. Now 2.5 years old, he is a great friend to our older cat Razzleberry, who was missing his long-time companion who had passed a few months prior to the new addition. !

This is wonderful! I'm so happy you adopted a black kitten. I have a 17-year-old black cat that I've had since she was a kitten in 1995. I hope this beautiful little one brings you many years of love and joy.

I think it is wonderful you adopted a cat from the Humane Society. That is where both of mine came from :)

Awww, so cute! We have a black cat, too. He was a kitty when we bought him almost three years ago. Of course, we bought him and a white cat back about a week before Halloween, and the shelter legally wasn't allowed to let us take either of them home until a week after Halloween because apparently both black and white cats often get adopted in that time period for sacrificial reasons, ew!! Sadly, our white kitty got lymphoma not long after we got her, and about six months later she was so sick she needed ot be put down. :( But we still have our Ash. :)

She is adorable! She looks like the kitty my husband got at Petsmart seven years ago. We still have her and she is awesome! I hope you two have many, many years of play and snuggles together!

Wow so cute. I have a newish kitten too plus two older cats. All very different to each other, but all just right for our family. Funny how they 'speak' to you isn't it and you just know 'yep,we're just perfect for each other'.
