End of Cardio Streak Countdown Begins...

Cardio Streak Day 480

If you've been reading this, you know that I've got over a year of consecutive cardio days. As of today, the streak is 480 days in a row. I plan to end that streak once I hit day 500 with the twenty day countdown begining today.

The streak has been good to me - over 90 pounds lost and I'm so much more healthy than when I started. However, since I'm now on maintenance, I intend to do the cardio four to five days per week instead of daily. (I need the rest, haha).

I've become a lot more consistent with my strength training which of course burns calories. All the literature seems to indicate the strength is better to maintain elevated metabolism than cardio, so I take full advantage of the weight room at the office. I've had a couple days off from strength now and will start again tomorrow when I go in to work at 0900hrs.

For today, I actually slept till about 0600 and went out in the 70F morning. My usual 30 minute maintenance walk normally produces a 2.3 mile result.

The virtual team map is up to date as of this morning. The virtual web site is not accurate for the team mileage and I had to compute distances for each member since the date of inception, 15April. As of yesterday, the total distance covered is 2615.2 miles with two members not yet reporting Friday numbers.

The team is in Wyoming, about 1/3 of the way N-S and about 1/2 of the way E-W in the state. You can view a map with points obtained along the way at the link below. Just copy and paste it into your browser.

A couple of weeks ago when I became aware of the mileage discrepancy, I had to re-place the points on the map for accuracy. Instead of daily points, I have reconstructed it with M-W-F points. That seems sufficient to show our progress.

    That computation correction sounds like a LOT of work
Congratulations on the consecutive days, fitness gained and the goal shift now that you are in maintenance
2.3 miles in 30min, that is like a slow run or, a very fast walk, do you jog part of the way?

It is great your office has a weight room, that's quite extraordinary...
Offices where people do sedentary work should all have one.
