Found a job!

So I recently had an interview..and I passed and got offered a job! I will be cashiering at a grocery store. I am really nervous. I have never had a job in a place with so many people around. I hope I am able to do well. Orientation is tomorrow.
Now I will have to figure out how to be able to keep working out/while working. There is a gym nearby where we live, but I have never worked out around strangers before(except in school. I guess I should just think of it like gym at school lol..)
I have skipped my work out since Wednesday(my normal day off). Hopefully after I figure out my work schedule I can start planning a new time to work out. I guess the best thing would be to join the gym. I wouldn't feel safe jogging in the area I am moving too because of the busy traffic. The gym is only $20 though, so its alright... I will have a lot of fears to overcome this upcoming week. I will try my best

    You might find standing all day hard on the lower back. Make sure you've got comfortable shoes! Also, if you find yourself tensing, you can do a little "shimmy" from belly dancing to help relax your lower back and simulate moving around:
    A shimmy is done by letting your hip loosen and just moving your knees back and forth quickly. It's not hugely obvious (just looks like your fidgeting), and if someone asks you can just say you're a bit chilly :). Good luck and congrats on your job!

    Cashier jobs can be physically demanding. To add to it, stand in place and twist at the waist when you scan items. That will work your core. If you're standing there waiting for a customer, do a few squats or walk in place, maybe even walk around the cashier stand a few times. During break walk around the store. Of course, start off in moderation and build up. The first few days of a job when you have to stand for hours on end will be difficult.

    Congrats on your job offer. That's great! I used to work at a grocery store and it was one of my favorite jobs. Made lots of great coworker friends to make long hours go by faster. Starting a new routine is a great time to start playing with new ways to fit in your workouts. Another advantage is you'll never have to worry about forgetting a healthy lunch.

    Sounds like you've bravely taken a step towards some personal growth with this job that's outside your current comfort zone. Hey: people are people are people! Give them a chance, and you'll find there are some nice ones out there. (And the rude impatient insulting ones... well, try to imagine that they're having a bad day and just venting anonymously at a random cashier in the grocery store!)

    It'll take a while to settle into a new schedule, of course. But things have a way of smoothing out and you'll find time for your workouts again soon.

    So, take your right hand over your left shoulder... and give yourself a big pat on the back! Congratulations on landing your job!
