SparkCoach Review IMHO

Friday, August 24, 2012

As a Team Leader I felt I needed to review this revamped SP program! I believe everyone should try it.
I feel that structure is good, especially when you are committing to goals that affect your life. Of course, since I didn't give it a thought before I came to SP, I was clueless on any kind of path to take. Thankfully, DSSECRETS led me here and I could go to her with a lot of questions. (But she didn't have all the answers.) I started to realize that I was changing my lifestyle, and had to learn to change.

SparkCoach gets you on track to begin a routine. That is critical to success. I believe that daily commitment is essential. You go through the sequence of stages and it builds a good foundation. You key on that foundation and stay with it.
Visualization sets the stage for a solid foundation. See the dream See your goals. You state your goals and it formulates a program.
You learn tracking, another major step that will take you to achieving your goals. (I believe, as I've said in the past.) that SparkPoints could be looked at as a primary checklist for your daily routine.
And you become active in the community. I found that motivation, inspiration and support comes from the community. You develop virtual friendships that quite possibly become real time meetings. It also offers up a lot of challenges that you might never had considered in your life. To try, no matter what, is to give yourself a chance to go where you've never thought to go. (I call it "finding the warrior within.") I would never have tried to run at 60 had it no been for one particular SparkFriend! I became educated by others who embraced the run and shared resources to further educate me.
Personally, it took me longer to figure some of this out because4 I did not use a "SparkCoach" program. I hear it too frequently that others are lost, can't find their way to answers, and are overwhelmed by the SparkPeople site. SparkCoach will open a lot of doors for new members and those that have either been here a while, dropped off, or just lost focus. The program will bring you back into the groove.

No matter what, I say embrace the program. I believe that if you fight it, you are looking for excuses to fail! Accept the personal challenge and have fun with it. Life is so much more better on the journey to becoming a healthier you. For me, it's a lot more fun traveling with all of my SparkFriends! I wish you all the best, be strong, and be well!

I think the Spark Coach is great for newcomers. I have been here for 3 years (and 90 pounds lost) and learned the hard way how to set up a routine and use the tools., I think it would have been a lot easier with Spark Coach.

Monty, I tried the Spark Coach too. I thought it was very good, but the stages are the same stages as were here when I started (Like Live2Run4Life). I used them, but we didn't have coaches to help us along. Those stages are also in the spark book. You're right, it is well worth it for new people or returning people to at least give it a 2 week try!

I'm glad to hear about spark coach, I haven't tried it. I made a commitment to myself that I wouldn't spend any money to lose weight. I know spark coach won't cost much and is probably worth it but I'm going to pass. I think I do pretty good on my own with the help of sparkpeople. Now if they starting charging for the site I may have to rethink my no money commitment!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Monty. As a newer member to this site (early June) and someone who has really focused all summer long, I agree that SparkCoach is a worthwhile program. I subscribed to it and look forward to using it each day. I often center my blogs around that day's particular program (later today I'll be blogging about snacks). At the very least, I encourage others to give the free trial a shot. Considering that all of the other tools on the site are free, I think it's very worth the fee to continue. What have you got to lose .. other than pounds??? and you can gain a much healthier lifestyle!

Those stages were here when I joined almost 4 years ago, and I followed them consistently on my own. I did all the check lists, I did all the tracking. Have the stages/steps changed?

I agree-I am using it because it does give me some extra-not really extra but tracking in a different form that makes me think a little more. Plus if I do have a question then I can get it answered.
