A Year From Now....

Thursday, August 23, 2012

A year from now you may wish you had started today. ― Karen Lamb

This quote is birthed from a much older one. Carpe diem - Seize the day. I've had this quote on my signature since I started Sparkpeople. I've looked at it countless times but I never really understood it's meaning until today.

Every year I host an event called Tent-A-Que. I invite a bunch of my friends over to my house. We set out tents in my back yard and proceed to drink, have a bonfire, and eat barbeque till our stomachs pop! I was a good girl and didn't do any of that. But that's not the point of this particular story. What is - is the fact that this is an annual event. Everyone comes over, we laugh. We have a good time. We take pictures.

This year I understood what Karen Lamb really meant.

Still a long way to go. But next year will be an even more awesome Tent-A-Que

I was SP surfing, caught your title, and correctly sensed where you were going! You're doing great!. Way to stay strong. It only gets better. I've always said that a steady safe pace prepares us better for maintaining! I've also said, as a poker player, embrace patience and you will master anticipation. Trust me when I say it's worth it. I wish you all the best, stay strong, and be well!

Love that difference. 2# loss per week for 52 weeks is 104#, so a year really is a long time.

I love this! I told my friend today that I had only lost 15 pounds in about 2.5 months but I was happy I wasn't just starting out. So many things have gotten better since the first day I laced up tennis shoes, walked out my front door, went for a walk and never looked back.
