Hannah =(

My childhood kitty has started taking a turn for the worst. She turned 17 last month and has been looking great. Had bloodwork done in July and came back with flying colors. Yesterday she slept all day and didn't wanna go out. Last night she was puking and having diarrhea. This morning didn't ask for her food, she LIVES for her food. It's like she totally forgot about her canned food. I checked her skin on her neck and my dad has showed me how to see if an animal is dehydrated and her skin was going down very slow. So I took off work and drove her to see my dad. She put up a big fight as usual. Her temp was fine. We took more bloodwork. My dad thinks she might be hyperthyroid. He let me bring her home while we wait for the results. Which takes 2 days. She looks even worse =(. My dad had me start her on a hunger stimulant. Not supposed to start working for 12 or more hrs tho. Poor Hanni =( She's been my kitty since I was 11. Please think of her and hope for the best peaceful end. She got so sick so fast. Gonna miss her! She has this little toy she has had since she was 6 weeks old. She carries it around in her mouth and cried looking for me. I think I am gonna try getting her cremated with it.

    I am so sorry, Julie. You know how much I care about you. One of the reasons I originally was attracted to you as a person is that I know that people who love animals and give their hearts to care for them are the best people. You have given Hannah a great life and she has been a good companion to you. I will be thinking about you and Hannah. Keep us posted as to what is going on.

    Oh sweetie, I feel for you! I hope Hannah is doing better by now. I know how hard it is - Cleo (our 17 yr old cat) had kidney disease, lost a lot of weight, and when she just totally withdrew from life we knew it was time. DH and I still talk about her all the time.

    Big hugs, and know that she's had a wonderful life with you thus far!

    Oh my goodness, you have me in tears. I also have a kitty (7 years old) and 2 dogs, and love them like my children.
    I pray for you and Hannah, I have lost dear pets in the past and know what you are going through, please stay strong, 17 years is a nice long time!
    You will always have happier memories when you recover from the immediate sadness.
    I am so sorry!
