A Day of Caring

Thursday, August 23, 2012

My work ended up doing a volunteer project yesterday for the United Way. We shut down the entire facility, leaving just one person here on phones. We were given a house to work on for a family, although I can't give any background information here. It was a fun event which I got to plan and organize. I must say it went better than I thought. Here is a list of what we got done in less than 8 hours

Trim bushes and trees
Mulch entire yard
Fix Lattice work around deck
Pull and spray weeds
Shelving in garage
Shelving in Laundry Room
Hang mirror in bathroom
Install new door hardware
Fix Kitchen plumbing
Fix Kitchen lights
Fix Bedroom ceiling fan/light
Remove Bath enclosure (doors)

Bathroom upstairs
Hallway upstairs
2 story foyer
Hallway downstairs
Dining Room
Laundry Room
Family Room (2 colors)
Entire Ceiling on First Floor

We also cleaned up before we left and within the 8 hour time. Here are just a couple pics of the day

emoticon What a great way to spend the day helping a family in need. I think it's great that everyone pitched in like that and was able to get everything done in 8 hours. Great job for putting this together and getting everyone to work together like this! emoticon
