Eating Clean

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Ugh-every time I say I'm going to do something I never do it so I'm going to be real careful about what I write here!

I started eating clean this week-I'm on day 3 and I feel like I'm doing something wrong because it's going so well! I found some meal plans online and I circled all the things I'd eat or would try to eat and went food shopping this weekend and got everything I needed. I'd like to say my main reason for starting this was to get healthy...but it wasn't, it was to lose some weight. Now that I've started though I really do want to get healthy. The best thing about this eating clean thing is that surprisingly I'm never hungry-which was the problem with all the other "diets" I've been on-I was always starving and inevitably I'd go on some binge and that would be the end of the diet. I gave myself two weeks of clean eating to really give it good shot-after that I'll reassess and see if I can continue or not. I'll be back for an update soon. Have any of you tried clean eating? Have any good recipes I should try?

I love clean eating! I feel so much better and my stomach digests food so much better when I eliminate anything processed! And yes, it is so much easier to eat foods and get full for less calories on real food. I love to cook so I am constantly on allreceipes.com trying new things. Today I am cooking crockpot turkey chili with garlic, onions, ground turkey, black beans, red kidney beans, red bell peppers, and corn (it is cooking while I am at work!) and I will make some cornbread to go with it when I get home. Spending the time to find great recipes makes clean eating easier-it's all about preparation! Anyway-good luck to us all!

I've been eating clean for about 5 weeks now, with the occasional Skinny Cow treat. With Insanity and eating better, I've lost 15 pounds. I also went from eating like absolute crap which I think helped a lot. I've always heard weight loss is 80% Diet/20% Exercise. It's the sad truth because the temptation of food is much much more difficult than just moving around more emoticon

I'm definitely not as hungry as I used to be, and that a 1000 calorie fast food meal doesn't fill me up nearly as much as 350 calories of wholesome food does! My favorite recipe for a snack is 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt, 1 cup of chopped strawberries with a teaspoon of honey.
    Good luck!

As far as I know its cutting out processed food-eating whole grains-lots of fruit and veggies.

I may sound stupid but what does "clean eating" mean? I have heard it a number of times on here and have not a clue as to what it means or why it would help a person lose weight. lol
