End of Summer Challenge

The only goal that I set for myself is getting healthier and I have accomplished that. I have more energy and I can walk farther and faster. However, I was hoping to lose weight as well and I didn't accomplish that -- in fact this morning I weigh 0.8 lbs higher than when I started. This is disappointing because my weight actually dipped down during the challenge to a low I hadn't seen in a long time but this week it popped up again for some unexplicable reason. Yes, I had a few restaurant meals and ate some bread (which is not really on my program) but nothing to warrant the big swings iin my body weight. So I have to keep my focus and remember the numbers are not as important as my health and that seems to be improving.

    Given the choice of better health and weight loss I'll take better health any day!! I know how frustrating it is to have those gains, but it is probably a combination of carbs and sodium - they get me most every time I eat out! Here's to getting BOTH - weight loss AND better health emoticon !!

    The longer we do this I think focusing on getting healthier is better than agonizing about our goal to lose weight. I have wondered during plateaus if that is really our body adjusting to our current weight. Having more energy being able to walk and do things is more important than a number on the scale.

    You have to do what is right for you. I congratulate you on feeling better, getting healthy is #1 in my book as well. I enjoy like you or anyone else to lose weight because to me that is part of my health problem. if you feel better about yourself, your energy, and your ability to walk farther, I think the battle of the bulge will follow. You may be gaining weight because that weight that you carry is turning into muscle. Keep on going my friend you're doing great.
