Photos from the Peterhof (2 of 3)

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Here are some photos of the lower gardens at the Peterhof. Please see my earlier blogs for other photos of our Russian trip.

One Spark related comment: this is a great place to walk. My wife and I walked over 12 miles this day.

It is pretty amazing and these photos really don't do it justice.

The statues are all larger than life size.

For about $20 you could take a high speed hydrofoil from the Peterhof to downtown Saint Petersburg. Here is a picture of it far out still up on its planes.

And down in the water as it approaches the dock:

My wife told me to tell you this was her favorite place to visit when she took
her trip to Russia. It was a number of years ago but she still talks about it.

Absolutely gorgeous !! Your photos from your trip to Russia have been spectacular ! A trip to Russia is on my bucket list. When I went to Amsterdam in March, one of the things on my to do list was to visit the Hermitage.

Because their art collection is so vast, only 10% can be displayed at any one time. So, the museum has branches in other parts of the world. I got to see the branch in Amsterdam. When I was there, I got to see some wonderful Flemish and Dutch art. It's a different collection every few months and I just happened to be there when they were showcasing their Reubens and such.
