Ugh! Really?

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Ok, so my back is hurting. I pulled something like two weeks ago, starts getting better, then my dumb ass hurts it again. Not by doing anything bad, just by doing too much of the little things. Like dishes or shampooing the rug where the dog puked. Now, my hernia is acting up, most likely because of the back pain. Ok, so the binder doesn't work because I have a huge stomach and it's this tiny piece of elastic fabric. I have to find something, but I have to wait until the weekend to get it emoticon

On a lighter note, the kids are back in school and loving it! Well, the fourth and first graders are, the middle schooler hasn't said much in the way of love/hate. I do know that her supply list is crazy! Seven teachers, seven different lists, and the gym lockers have to be rented? What is that about? They don't have regular lockers, either, they have to carry everything around all day! Thank God they gave them a "home set" of books so they only have to lug notebooks and school supplies everywhere.

i agree! our lotto was supposed to suppliment the tax money. the fat cats in tallahassee are taking money away from the schools because "lotto money is paying". sheesh, paying what? school supply lists are getting longer, teacher paychecks are getting smaller. oh, i could go on but i'm trying to stay in a good mood today! lol

I think lockers went the way of the do do bird. I was shocked when I moved to Southern Calif. and had to start paying for the privilege of allowing your children to ride the bus.(if got kicked off-still had to pay) Also PE went from 5 days a week down to 2 days if the kids were lucky.and no lockers! In Calif we pay a lot in school fees via taxes and school fees on new houses prior to their being built.Even if you don't have children you still have to pay the school bonds. Our lottery goes to schools. So where is all the money going? My pet peeve

Thanks, hun! My back seems to be doing a bit better, but it still kills me in the morning after a good night's sleep lol ~stiff~

Some schools require a computer to be taken from school to home. Those are the private schools, but I'm sure it will trickle down in to the public school system soon. There are already computers in every classroom and the kids log on every day. My kids have internet assignments monthly. Some families just can't afford those things, though :-/

I think we'll see the day when all students will need will be a "notebook" type computer. All books will be downloaded, and all tests, assignments will be e-mailed!
That should help with THEIR back problems in the future!!! (Hope your's is better by now.

Thanks, guys! I'm hoping all this stretching and heat/cold is doing some good. If I could stay on my bum instead of running around doing everything around the house, it might get better lol.

There was one year in middle school that I didn't use my locker. The classes were too spread out. The good thing is, we only had duo tangs for class, a bit of paper, pens, and the books were kept in class. But, the supplies my dd has to lug around include two different 3" 3 ring binders, one 2" binder, paper, post its. At least she has a "home set" of books so she doesn't lug those around. I decided that instead of her taking her lunch (and having a small snack whenever she was hungry between classes) she could just buy her lunch and have a snack when she got home. I mean, a lunch bag plus all that Tupperware and ice packs, that's too much weight to add to an already overloaded backpack!

Boy, I understand about the school thing! My GD just started middle school and she has to lug her books back and forth everyday. I don't see why they can't use their gym lockers for their books?!

I hope you feel better soon.

We had to do the book lugging when I was in school as we had tons of buildings and having a locker was futile. The books weighed way too much.

I have my own complaints about the costs of sending kids to public schools. I have two high schoolers. It doesn't get any better. And now my daughter has her eyes set on going to a private college out of state! To the tune of $30,000 per year!

Sympathies are with you! My shoulder was sprained last May, and it took a long time of pampering it before it could be used more normally. Now I suppose I need to do some exercise that would strengthen it, but I'm not sure what that is.
