Another nice day, felling a little warmer, but still very nice. After work headed out to the club and did some shooting before our monthly meeting tonight. Was really nice, we had the one range all to ourselves. Jim shot pistol and I brought out one of my .22 rifles to shoot. I am really enjoying shooting rifle this year. Just fun to do even if it is just sitting at the bench plinking away and shooting for good groups. Trigger finger is everything for shooting and the more trigger time the better. Plus it is something we both enjoy doing and being able to do it together makes it even better.
Most of the guys we have shot with over the years I have never met their wives. The wives never come out to even watch them shoot or compete. And for many guys, trying to upgrade or get new equipment can be an interesting tradeoff in the family. What these women don't realize is how much fun and enjoyment and time they are missing with their husbands. For the few of us women that do shoot we are treated like royality at the range and at shoots. My husband has told me many times of the comments he gets about how lucky he is to have a spouse that likes to shoot and they wish their wives would at least show some interest and try shooting.
When I do meet a woman at the range who is trying to shoot for the first time, with a husband or boy friend I am more than willing to let them try my guns and explain some basic gun handling and shooting skills to them. Many times just watching me shoot gets their interest and then I let them try my guns. For many, they just never have seen another woman shooting that knows what they are doing, so seeing me is a totally new experience for them. Unfortunately, many of the guys that take a spouse or girlfriend shooting, don't really know that much either about showing or helping a new shooter the first time. They give the new shooter a pistol or rifle and expect them to shoot it without even knowing how to hold it or shoot it correctly. Then the new shooter isn't sure what to expect and many times they they aren't ready for the recoil of the gun or the noise. Then the spouse or boyfriends wonder why no one wants to go shooting with them. They don't make it fun or easy for the newbie to learn of ask questions or feel comfortable in strange surroundings at the range.
Anyway, off my tangent now. We had a good meeting and talked about budget stuff and the new storage/maintenance building we are going to build to store our machinery. We have a tractor, riding mowers, that kind of stuff so it isn't so exposed over the winter. Right now we keep them in some trailers we bought for storage. This would be so much better. We hope to get most of the work done before winter sets in. At least that is the plan.
Off to bed now. Too late again. At least i have Weds off so can sleep in later. Maybe 7:30!
