UGGGH venting time! As you are all aware I put on a few pounds this summer (not related to my pregnancy). I had been sitting pretty consistently at about 145 pounds for months and then with vacation after vacation it had gone up to about 150-152. My first few weeks of pregnancy I had a huge appetite and admittedly indulged it a bit too much - with a resulting 154 scale reading for the past 2 weeks.
Cut to yesterday at my first OBGYN appointment. I had to squeeze it in on my lunch break and since I can really only keep down one meal per day, I don't worry too much about if it's a little higher in fat or calories. I was in a rush and I grabbed a burger from Wendy's and ate it in the car. They also needed to test my pee to confirm the pregnancy so here I was fully clothed, belly full of a greasy burger, and full to bursting with pee and she said, "OK hun, step on the scale for us! This will be your baseline weight for this pregnancy."
*First, I digress. I've been 5'6 for years. Years. Then suddenly about a year ago I was getting measured at 5'5 1/2 consistently. Yesterday she tells me 5'5 even. WTF!
Anyway, the weight came up at 159.6. WHAT THE HELL! So of course this now qualifies me as OVERWEIGHT again in the BMI ranges and changes a few things about how the pregnancy is handled as far as some testing timing, etc. I am also only supposed to gain 15-25 lbs whereas a healthy starting weight is 25-35. I guess I'm ok with that part.
But just annoying - how hard I've worked - to be told I'm overweight again. The kicker is I went home and just for ISHTS and GIGGLES weighed myself fully clothed. 154.5. Freakin A. I am looking forward to my next appointment when I will have an empty stomach and no pee in my bladder so they can get an accurate weight for me.
EDITED FOR A BIT OF POSITIVITY - I started my first pregnancy at 175.
