Well, after the first week of my 'new lifestyle' (with Type 2 Diabetes), I think I have done ok.
I weighed in on Saturday morning, which will now be my 'official' weighing time each week. I lost 1.3kgs over the week, so that is pleasing.
I stuck with my food planning and tracking, but I only went for 2 x 20 minutes walks. Hmm... exercising is going to be a mission for me to get into I think!.
Ideally I'd love to lose enough weight so I can at least put on a pair of togs and go swimming. However, I am a long way of feeling comfortable enough to do that in public!
Also, it appears I have had a bad muscle and nerve reaction after having acupuncture in my right hand last week. My entire right arm, wrist, hand and shoulder blade are incredibly sore - shooting pains, aching and keeping me awake at night (I am only getting around 4 hours of sleep a night at the moment, which isn't good as I have read that people with Type 2 Diabetes should be aiming for at least 8 hours sleep per night!). I had a deep tissue massage with the physio yesterday, and that seemed to ease the pain a bit. She thought that perhaps being on Metformin now and with the body having a 'pain memory', it could be that the acupuncture (which I have had a few times before and it has been fine) annoyed the nerves and muscles, sending them into spasms.
This morning, OMG! I am in incredible pain.
Painkillers are not working - even strong ones I have left over from my hand surgery last year. And I can't really take Codeine based ones as they always make me sleepy - not a good thing for being at work during the day!
Anyway, back to my physio Evelyn later today.
So back to my 'new lifestyle' - so far this week, I haven't tracked my food, which is stupid of me. And I haven't been too active (been too sore).
So once I am on top of my arm and shoulder pain (and have had a bit more sleep), I will go walking again.
Things are just never easy!!
