Dirty Girl 5K complete!

Monday, August 20, 2012

This past February one of my cousins had asked a group of us if we were interested in doing a Dirty Girl 5K. The name immediately caught my interest and I had to check out their website. A blurb from their site is as follows: "Dirty Girl is a 5k mud run for women of all ages and athletic abilities. Don't worry, it's not a "race" in the traditional sense.
It is an untimed obstacle course designed to push you slightly out of your comfort zone, but only as far as you are comfortable going". Immediately I decided to sign up. Definitely something I had never done before, but also something that looked like absolute fun.

So, on 8-19-12, the day arrived. Me and 10 of my cousins, dressed in our dirty girl attire (we wore aprons in honor of our Grandmother who always wore an apron so she wouldn't get her outfit dirty) arrived at the Waukesha Expo Center at 8am and checked in. Our Wave was at 9:30am, the weather was perfect and the atmosphere was intoxicating. They had music playing to get us pumped up and ready to go.

A picture of our group before we got dirty (i'm in the back with pink bandana & blue top)

Sparkfriend Rockinmom77 was also their with her group and we got a pic together:

We counted down and we were off:

Our first obstacle a few hay bales & the barn burner:

then it was into the tubes:

after this the course led us through an area of obstacles like the cargo net climb, mud and water pits, tires, various size wall climbs, a hill, more mud and water and a few other obtacles and eventually we made our way back out to where spectators could see us again and get additional pictures:

Rockinmom77 and I got together at the end for a photo

I had a blast. I'm so glad I did this and i'm ready for the WI Dirty Girl 2013!!

Have a sparktacular day everyone!

It looks like so much fun! I am jealous of the people who get to do this with a group or friends. :) They never have any of these races near here, so I was excited when I saw the warrior dash was less than an hour away.
