The end of summer.....

Sunday, August 19, 2012

I entered the BLC Limes summer challenge with the best of intentions. It's summer, right? Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, lots of activity and reasons to be outdoors.

While my activity and exercise levels have been great, my eating habits have been horrific.

My weight loss has either been minimal or non existant. I made two mistakes - I stopped tracking food, and I then let my eating habits get out of hand. The five chocolate chip cookies yesterday were the drive home that I can't continue to do this. I need to get back on track with the eating. There is no way I can exercise enough to work off five chocolate chip cookies!

Time to rethink and reevaluate. I must take control and responsibility of what and how much I eat - period. There can be no more repeats of "The Chocolate Chip Cookies Incident"!!

I have been in your shoes my friend! Put the past to bed and wake up tomorrow with a new attitude, it's hard but I know you can do it! I had to take a 3 month hiatus from all-things-SP-and-'diet' and it was exactly what I needed to do. Cleared my head and today is Day 4 back for me! We can't change what we did yesterday but we can manage what we do today.

Your choice were cookies, mine were bread sticks from Pizza Hut. We're better than that, I just know it!

That could happen to any of us at any given time, no one is immune from the cookie monster, the potato chip monster, the chocolate, the ice cream , donut monsters. The win for you is that you saw it and are taking back control over it! Heck that is the biggest battle, as everyone knows I say a lot life happens, we learn from it and move forward! You got this and the fall challenge will be here in no time!

It's often the hardest thing to admit what your weakness or what things you haven't done as well, but it shouldn't be...this is not a failure..not in the least...it only becomes a failure if you quit for good..and I know you are way too strong for that!!! Way more stronger than some chocolate chip cookies...and you can work them off ...you can do anything you set your mind on!!! Only you can set limits on your possibilities...so why waste energy even setting limits? ROCK ON GIRL!!! emoticon

I was the same when I baked cookies for last night's church potluck - good thing they all disappeared once we got there, or I'd have eaten even more! I've learned 2 things about myself. #1 I can't have baked goods of any kind in the house, or I will eat them compulsively until they are gone! #2 I can't carry cash on me when I leave the house to run errands or I will hit the drive through for an iced coffee or an ice cream cone or sundae or some other sugary treat that I don't need!

I must say that your cookie emoticon incident could happen to any of us any time! I had a strong pull to drive through the local McDonald's for one of the dark chocolate dipped cones they are offering right now. emoticon I don't even know how I made it home. Well, yes I do. I only had a 20 bill and I was not blowing it on a 1.49 cent ice cream cone.
Then there was the issue of tracking that has kept me oh so honest over the 10 wk challenge. I knew it would be close anyway today and the cone definitely would not fit.
I am just stopping by to encourage you to get back to the basics and what works for you. Tell yourself that the tracking is a lifesaver and only takes 5 to 10 minutes. Get it back in your schedule and I will keep it on mine! I am hoping you have a fantastic Fall! emoticon
