Former Olympian, 63 years old, power swimmer Diana Nyad is making her 4th attempt to swim from Cuba to Key West. First attempt at age 30. 2nd and 3rd attempts last year (first derailed by asthma which she'd never had before, 2nd attempt failed because of 2 jellyfish stings, one of them the box jelly which can be lethal for humans).
She started her journey yesterday in choppy water, and during the night she had to swim backstroke for 3 hours straight because she was swimming through jelly fish swarms.
I'm tracking the team status updates and am wildly inspired. Swimming vicariously. :)
UPDATE: 1:30 Pacific Time: she's swum over 22 miles of her 100 plus journey.
