back after a mindless eating few days

Sunday, August 19, 2012

I had a fairly good week I able to increase the number of planks
I can do.
Aug 6 was the first time I did one and the trainer wanted me to do three and be able to count to ten before I rested. It was a struggle but I did get three done. Today Aug 18 I was able to do 4 and hold the position until the count of 20!!
This has been a hard month so far I have either stayed the same weight or lost the same pound more than once!
I have had eat the house attack several days. They are now over thankfully thanks to the support of my Spark family.
I took time to go back and read past blogs dealing with my eating the house attacks. Read the encouraging notes from my spark family
I printed several to post around my kitchen.
Found times that the attacks were the worst. So now I have a plan in place.
1.The attacks were the worst after I came home from the gym I had been eating my snack then going to the gym.
New plan go to the gym and then eats my snack
Tuesday seemed to be a hard day I had been going to a Hospice support group meeting but the group took this month off and I decided since it had been two since mom passed away I should be able to not need to go any more
Plan go to the gym at the time the meeting was held so I am busy doing something
The wanting to eat at night is on I am working on then remember how nice the arm foam pad and mouse pillow looked when I was not eating at the computer.
The rule is back in place including no eating while reading at the computer as well as posting notes the computer area is a no eating zone. Thanks again teammates. For your support like the saying goes there is no I in Team. I have learned its not easy to do this as I thought but I am not giving up this time like I have in the past.
emoticon emoticon for helping me over my rocks in the past and again this time going for streak of no mindless eating. decided if i can do planks i can beat mindless eating attacks one day at a time like several team mates told and i forget.

Awesome on the planks!!! Lovehow you did fill in the time with a good activity instead of feeling empty during that time! When I was reading about the exercise they do recommend a protein after to help with weight loss! I haven't had a chance to try this but makes sense that this would work. Keep on doing the little steps and then one day when the big step is complete you can be amazed at the journey. You ARE doing it!

Hugs, doesn't really matter how long ago she passed, if you still need support go!! You can go for up to a year on hospice.

WAY TO GO on those planks!! That's a wonderful accomplishment. And a very big woo hoo on realizing why you were eating the house and what to do about it. That's AMAZING!! It definitely shows how much you've changed and grown. You are amazing!!

I know you will tackle this just as you have the planks!! :)

Congrats on those planks, Fran! They will really help to strengthen your core! I do them every day and I can feel how much stronger I am getting. I'm 51 and I never thought I'd be able to do planks!

Good luck on getting that mindless eating under control. That is something that I struggle with too. Hang in there, you can do it and I can too!

  Fran:

You're approaching the eating the house problem exactly right. You've pinpointed when it seems to be worst and have a plan. That's a fantastic start.

As for the meetings . . . you know, there really isn't a time table for grieving! So, don't stop going just because it's been "x" amt. of time since your Mom passed. Long story short, I did that when my brother passed, and reality was, I wasn't done grieving. So, don't cut yourself short.

((((HUGS))))

You are doing everything great! I found out a long time ago that if I ate food at a certain place or at a certain time then that place or that time became a trigger to eat. Its an association thing. So I have made the computer a no food zone. I only eat when I can devote my time and attention to it so I never eat on the hoof or in the car. This was a little bit difficult for the first few weeks to keep to but now I rarely have to fight that urge to eat when I'm not hungry. As you say, we are in this for life! emoticon

Well done for the extra plank - excellent! Main thing about little setbacks is to learn from them and that is what you have done - you have made new goals for yourself - that's really good. You are so supportive to all your SP friends, so what goes round comes round. Thank you for my teapot - I am drinking my way through my friend's mint patch at the moment, so I will use it for my mint tea - I find it so refreshing in the hot weather. Have a great week Fran

    emoticon emoticon on those planks!

After working out is actually one of the best times to eat, so making that little change to have the snack ready for after should definitely help.
