Day 220 of doing 10 minutes of exercise, not consecutive days
Chopping Wood 75 minutes 963 calories burned

We refinanced our house. We now owe $106,000 and have a 15-year mortgage at 3.125% down from 5%. Rodger paid off his pick-up truck so now we don't have a truck payment.

I had two coupons from the pool supply place and today I got $36 worth of free pool chemicals, a container of 10 slow release chlorine tablets and one pound of algae shock for free. I treated my husband to custard on the way home from the pool place. We also went to a Habitat for Humanity Reuse Store. It was fun to just be together looking at stuff.

This morning, the chimney sweep came to put a new damper on the woodstove pipe. He came during the week and told us we need a whole new chimney, that this one is not up to code. We have a pallet of wood near it, so today I did about half the pallet and stacked the split wood onto another pallet. I have 12 pallets of wood and the neighbor's father-in-law said he was going to bring some more wood by today, but he didn't show up. I set up appointments for the pets for this upcoming week

My friend came from Virginia and spent a week with us. We visited with some people she hadn't seen since she moved to Virginia thirteen years ago and we all had a cookout together.

I have been busy. My son's ex-girlfriend is leaving soon for college and we want to have a get-together with her before she goes. Her birthday is Monday. I apologize for not being on, but I don't move very fast any more and it takes me about three times as long to get things accomplished as it used to.

I have been using the dry erase board to list things we need to get done and then erasing them as they are done. I did the grocery shopping by myself the last time it was done and haven't been to the store for two weeks. I can get chores done, but then when I sit down, I doze off.

With all the rain Maryland has been having, I am wondering if we are getting the fall rains early. Usually the second week in September we have rain and then colder nights. I thought I was all set for winter until I found out about the chimney. I won't run short of wood, that's for sure, but we want to have the new chimney ready to go for this winter.

We had a new liner put in the pool and a new bottom put in it, then the pump motor was leaking water and we had to have it repaired. We haven't done that much swimming. We found a dead bat on the pool surface and I didn't put shock in the pool since nobody was swimming. That would have to be done, but it is no use to use up the chemicals if nobody is using the pool. There is a floater of chlorine tablets in the water in the pool.

I sure hope next year we can enjoy the fruits of our labor. This year it seems like we fix or repair something every month.

I am beat from working on the wood.

So glad to have you back. You were missed. It sounds like you have been accomplishing lots which is good. I like your idea of making a list and crossing things off as they are done. I have been doing this too and it works well with all we have going on.
    Take care...........

emoticon So glad you are ok. I was worrying. It sounds like you have gotten some control over things, which is good. Glad you got the refinance and for 15 yrs. If things begin to get even better I would concentrate on paying off the house loan before the 15 yrs so you do not have a mortgage in retirement. I did that and I can not tell you how much of a relief it is. Now I just have to make sure the taxes are paid each year so I do not lose it.

My youngest is still out of work. I have been looking for part time work even just for Christmas. If something happens great meantime I plan to find other opportunities to make money. My husband was a writer as well and sold some short stories. I might try my hand at writing just for fun. I have found that opportunities happen at the oddest times you just have to recognize them.

Good catching up with you, here's hoping you can find 5 minutes to keep us up to date. How is your mother? Are you still trying to deal with her laundry and finance?
I don't think there is ever a time when we stop paying out for renewals or repairs to a house and garden. We are investing in solar panels next month, it might reduce the bills a little!! We should have thought about it earlier in the year but better late than never.
    best wishes and hugs

You have been busy! Glad you got so much done and that you are okay. You are so lucky to have a pool. You don't have much time left to enjoy it before having to close it up for winter. I know what you mean about the rain here. I have only had to water my garden with the hose three times this summer!

I know what you mean! I have not been in my pool since May and had two times where it was green and I and to shell out 50 bucks each time it turned green for chemicals :P
So $100 and I have not even been swimming!!

I really hope I can get in there this week at least.

Hope the chimney replacement isn't going to be supper expensive!
