WEll the night before was very rough went to bed around 9 and at 10 there was some kind of emergency 3 doors down with 3 fire engines 2 ambulance and a few cop cars needless to say there was tons of noises. To make matters worse our little princess Abigail woke up every hour crying and want to eat so needless to say I got very little sleep. When my alarm went off I swear I had a little tear roll down my face lol. When I woke up my throat was very sore and my nose was super runny. So I went downstairs and had my waffles for breakfast and 3 litres of water and got ready to leave. This was all at 4 am. So we left at 5am the race starts at 7. I was excited for the race because I got to wear my new half Fanatic top. So we arrived at the venue and there was noone there which was weird. Then we saw 2 ladies in a little restaurant and asked them if we were in the right spot. they replied yes. We were an hour early but apparently it was a smaller race and there was only 170 runners. So we got to the start line and the gun went off. You can always tell the rookies because they sprint out of the gates and I always shake my head lol. The run was really nice very scenic and all along the river. When I hit the half way point I looked at my watch and was shocked I was on pace for 1.51 which would beat my PB. the race wasn't marked very well so it made it hard to figure out how far you had gone. When I hit mile 11 my legs started to get a bit heavy and started to get really sore. But I went to my happy place and fought threw it. When I crossed the finish line my time was 1.54.52 my 2nd fastest time of the year. My amazing wife crossed at 2 hours flat which is amazing because she was super sick!!!!!

Congratulations on completing yet another half-marathon.

IMHO, half-marathons are to die for. No, that doesn't mean I can't wait for the next one here locally. It means that if I jogged, trotted, walked and wheezed my way through a half marathon, I would die, croak, visit the pearly gates and not return.

I used to run and loved it. However, the passage of ages, along with a few minor maters like two broken vertebrae, two crushed disks and one herniated disk make it difficult to "run" more that 50' before I'm hit with severe back cramps that usually take an hour with a massage therapist before I can stand up again.

I envy you being able to do what you do. Running Cross-country in High School and college always got my endorphins to sing. I've also spent some time in that place where there is only a little effort, but no pain.

emoticon I enjoy read about your wife and you "working" together for running. My hubby and me are together all the time that he is in home. I'm in bed and when he comes from his job; he goes to take a shower, eat and then he seat on the bed with me and don't go out again; except if need something from other part of our home or we call one of the children from the phone and he doesn't need to leave me alone. He is a great husband, too. emoticon

Wow. Can't imagine doing a half marathon. A sprint distance tri was bad enough! I was dying during the run. Course I was dying during the swim too. hahaha I love how you said you went to your happy place. So true so true. Congrats to both of you!

I was born in Lockport, NY and raised in Gasport - went to Middleport high school! Small world. Congrats for doing well in the half marathon! If it were me, I probably would've stayed in bed after all that!

I wonder did this marathon take place in Lockport N.Y. my home town? If so I just happened to be there on the 18th at our cottage on Lake Ontario. Kudos to Lockport for being part of Spark Page, I love it!!!!
