Page 1 of a Very Special Album

Saturday, August 18, 2012

As most of you know; I'm a 70 year old grandmother with 7 grandchildren. I have a goal of presenting each grandchild with a 10 year album on their 11th birthday. So far, I have presented 4 and they are treasured. Now, I am working on the remaining 3 and one has to be done by the end of this month.

What a wonderful experience it is pulling together all of this and reliving so many good times! I've really struggled with how to start this album and have taken the first picture out and put it back several times now. You see; it's not very flattering of me. But it is who I WAS.

The decision has been made; I present page one of my DGD's album. She was born 8/29/01.

I'm including another copy of the photo; since these are unedited photos of unedited photos, I'm afraid the quality may not be very good; but the point should come across fine.

This was taken at a baby shower for my daughter, sitting next to me. We're playing a game where you cut off a piece of yarn how large you think your waist is. You know how much fun that was for us!!

You already know this is one album with a happy ending. As my granddaughter grows and gets older; I shrink and get younger! It's win, win!!

Taking a break from working on the albums and I just wanted to share. WooHoo! Joy

Afterthought: I guess all of you don't really know me! So I thought it only fair to include the happy ending. This was taken this spring with my KY grandchildren. My 10 year old granddaughter is on the left and I am on the right. I don't post my grandkids names.

Thanks for the visit! Joy

I didn't know you were 70 and you probably get this often, but, you look younger than 70.
I can see why you wouldn't include the unflatttering photo, but, your granddaughter will be blessed knowing that if she were to ever battle, or meet someone who struggles, her grandma knows victory at 70. That is hope for many.
Also, this album is an amazing gift.
I am jealous. In a good way. I am very happy for your loved ones. They will be so very cherished.
My hubby and I know a missionary's son that had grown into a Deacon after a prodigal time in his life. His mother that was a nurse and missionary in Egypt made him a small scrap book that she gave him when he left home. It started at birth and over the years she'd journal how precious he was and how blessed she was. He brought it with him everywhere. This man was a big burly, prayer warrior of a man and that precious item was like a moral compass.
Well done cherishing your grandchildren!

What a precious gift for your grandchildren! And I'm glad you included that photo. What a life lesson that will continue to be for your granddaughter. She will always be able to look at that, think of what you've accomplished, and know that she too, can do anything!
