My Plan Worked!

I got on the scale today, something I dread, only to find that it was going to be a good day. According to my scale, I've lost nearly 8 pounds. I was shocked!

About 2 weeks ago, I realized that I was not losing weight, even though I was exercising regularly. I have a serious portion issue. I thought long and hard about my situation. I usually eat vegetarian for breakfast and lunch to try to get in extra fruit & vegetables. However, I also tend to put alot of cheese and other high fat (not to mention calories) "toppings" on my food. So, My "semi-vegetarianism" wasn't working as well as planned. It's good to know your weaknesses.

After some serious thought, I decided to go vegan for a couple days each week, vegetarian for a couple days, and eat healthy but whatever I want (within reason) for the remaining 3 days. Eating vegan has actually been one of the best things I've tried. I have began to use less toppings on other days and have already learned that a little meat can go a long way. I've also learned that gorging myself on fruits and veggies does not make me feel sick the way that gorging myself on bread, meat and dairy does. I also don't generally gorge myself on the vegan days. I'm actually learning what it feels like to be full and not stuffed! It's amazing!

There's still work to be done. I have to get the carbs/protein/fat right. The protein can be tricky for vegans (well, so I've heard). But, all in all, I think I've finally found an eating plan that works for me!

I've also learned that I can say no to anything for just one day!
