I've been pretty much absent on Sparkpeople this week. My mom came to visit and arrived on Monday night, so I spent most of Monday running around getting the house cleaned up and attending my son's "end of summer" preschool party. It's always fun having my mom around, not to mention an extra set of hands with the boys, and it was a nice week.
The kids and I just dropped her off at the airport, and so now it's back to the grind. I will say that while I wasn't so great about logging my calories this week, I don't think I was terribly off plan. We had a couple of not so great days, but overall it wasn't a mess. I will, however, admit that I got zero running in. Monday - Wednesday I did some extra walking, but then I had a scalp biopsy on Wednesday afternoon, and I'm not cleared to exercise until tomorrow.
That being said, I am a giant wuss. My mom came down to visit just because she wanted to see us all, and then it just so happened that I had already scheduled the biopsy for the same time. It worked out really well, mostly because I didn't have to worry about making daycare arrangements for the boys. All day Wednesday I was a wreck. I don't do so well around needles, and knowing that I'd need multiple injections, and there would likely be a large suction needle did nothing to calm my nerves. Truth be told, it wasn't bad at all. The "biopsy" ended up being a total removal of the small cyst I had on my scalp, which while relatively small, was actually quite painful. I'm glad it's gone. Of course, I'm now sporting a rather unflattering bald spot, but hair grows back, so I'm not too worried. I'm very grateful to the physicians we have access to, and my experience made me much less fearful of needles. That's a good thing.
This weekend my husband is working overnights, and so it's not looking good for running. However, I've got my calendar out and I'm all set for next week. I'm very ready to hit the ground running and get back on track after a not stellar week.
