Really?? What is WRONG with my family?

Friday, August 17, 2012

This is going to be short and really more of a WTF? blog than anything else. I'm getting us packed up to go on a hiking/camping/fishing/compute
r free weekend.

So yesterday I harvested a whole lot of zucchini from our garden. I needed to do something so I made a low cal zucchini bread and froze one of the two loaves. My mom had sent me the cookbook and I wrote her to tell her that I used the cookbook and thanked her.

The response: "Just don't eat too much."

WTF?? Don't eat too much? Not - glad you liked it. Not - great job making something healthy. Nope. I get "don't eat too much."

So what do I do with that? Cry? Use it as motivation? Rail against it?

I'm going to ignore it. Plain and simple. Ignore it and go have a fit and fun weekend with my husband - who by the way said I'm doing great and he's proud of me. emoticon

IGNORE your mom! My mom is generally supportive; but some other friends or family give me mean comments too sometimes. Sometimes I just say firmly "(insert name), that was mean and hurtful." and get up and walk away or hang up if I don't get an immediate apology. With your mom- don't let mean comments get you down!

My mom would have said something similar or something like "what happened to your diet" She always implys or just right out says stuff about my weight usually in front of my kids, my husband, or complete strangers. Usually followed by a dig about my house and the housekeeper she feels I am not.

You probably choose the right path, and probably the one I would have as well. After nearly 50 years of stuffing it in (emotions) I would continue.
