I decided I better get a blog written tonight as my weekend doesn't seem like it will be free enough for me to write one.
Tomorrow I have a meeting at school and after will begin setting up for our Relay For Life event. If you or your loved ones have been touched by cancer I really recommend getting involved with Relay. The American Cancer Society is a great charity and they do WONDERFUL things. As a teenager my hubby was treated for lymphoma. ACS did a lot to help them out. He stayed in a Hope Lodge and found the experience to be so supportive. Anyway, when Relay came to my home town my family got involved. I lost an uncle to colon cancer and I have an aunt that is battling breast cancer. (there are many others, but those are the noteworthy cases for our family) It is no small task getting the family to gather and participate. My dad has 7 siblings and collectively we have a LOT of family. Anyway, so we will be going to set that up. As the team captain I usually stay for most of the evening. It is a great chance to get a lot of walking in. I am at the lightest I have have been since early 2007. That means that I have never been so fit while participating in a relay. I'm excited to participate in a cool weather relay! I will not likely stay all night as I have to get up on Saturday.
Saturday early afternoon I have to go with a group I volunteer with to the Renaissance Festival. Ok, it isn't that I HAVE to go, but I do have to be there with that group rather than walking around. Again, I am glad for the cooler weather.
So, I will be pretty exhausted by Saturday evening. Sunday I don't have much planned other than to get my homework and studying done. I also have to get all the laundry and weekend tasks done. Yup, busy day. Then the week starts up again and I have my 12-16 hour days.
Today Hubby and I walked to my mom's house. If you recall (my May 20th blog titled Up Hill Both Ways discussed this), they live 2.5 miles (round trip) away, up hill both ways. With uphill happening in both directions it does mean it goes down hill in both directions, but they are some pretty good hills. The return hill is a bit steeper and longer than the one on the way there. I made it! It wasn't easy, but it was way easier than the last time! I am making progress! I was winded, but I could carry on a conversation with hubby. I could even talk in complete sentences. Also, we weren't pushing our speed, but we did it in 3 minutes less than last time. Success!
Today was also successful in that we had dinner at home. In the past few weeks I have been too tired by the time Thurs rolls around and I don't want to cook. On Sunday I put together a beef "chili" that is isn't tomato based, so it is actually more like beef and bean stew than chili. Anyway, I am working on using up food in the pantry and freezer before we move. So I browned the meat and cooked some of the veggies, but then put it in the crock pot today and let it simmer for 8 hours. It was so tasty! Success!
My fat girl brain was trying to trick me into eating fast food this week. I didn't listen. I tried really hard to quiet the fat girl brain and listen to my stomach and rational brain. Neither of them wanted fast food, so she lost. I did have a square of pizza and a bite of pb cookie. End of the world? Nope. Totally worth the calories! Success!
I kinda like saying success! Success!
I measured myself yesterday. Success! Ok, the fact that I did it, and the results were success.
I forgot to take the disk of pictures from my mom's tonight. Next weekend I will try to post a side by side progress pic. I was reminded that I still have a journey ahead of me, but I have made a lot of progress!
Due to the chillier weather I had to put on a pair of jeans tonight. Yeah, that was fun. I decided I couldn't wear them to my mom's because they might fall off with the walking. So, three pairs of jeans that I wore during the winter and early spring are so big on me it is comical. I have one pair of jeans that fits but is too long and I borrowed a pair from my mom. I think next weekend when looking for a dress for the wedding I may also try to pick up a pair of jeans. Success!
Alright, enough with the success and I am off to bed. Happy Friday! And, Happy Relay Day!
