Good news, bad news, good news today

Thursday, August 16, 2012

I had a lovely day today. Thursday is my WI day with WW and I go with my friend. Today I lost .7 kg. Happy with that. emoticon

My friend and I then met another friend and we had lunch, did some shopping and then had afternoon tea. Then it was off to look at a nursery and I managed to purchase some little plants called Cuphea - 3 different colours. I think they are old fashioned and I have some, but have a gap where a couple died - so I have some to replace now.

I arrived home after 4.30 pm to a message on my answering machine to say one of my cousins wasn't expected to live. I phoned my uncle back and spoke to him for a bit. Then a little while later the phone call came that he had passed away. My uncle (not his dad) asked me to call one of my other cousin's to let her know. We spoke for a long time which was lovely. We have decided to make sure we get together with 2 of our other cousins and their wives/husbands and our husbands as soon as we get back from Thailand. An unexpected death like this makes you realise that life is not forever! I then phoned my cousin (the brother of the one who died) and had a talk to him as there is no way we will get to the funeral as we leave the country on Wednesday morning - fly to Sydney Tuesday, and the funeral will probably be Wednesday anyway - and will be held about an hour and a half north of Sydney. Sad news. He was very good to my dad and looked up to my dad. emoticon

Then I had a phone call from my eldest daughter to say that her friend was engaged - which was awesome news, as she lost her first fiance some years ago in a tragic accident. It was so lovely to hear she has found happiness again - I have met the young man - and they are a lovely couple. So congratulations to them! emoticon

I sat back in the recliner with Max on my lap .... ahhh.

DH was trying to get Max to come to him, but the only way he can get him is to say 'do you want some cheese' and Max is off like a flash - DH has started giving him some cheese at night and Max loves it! Of course, once the cheese is gone, Max is back up on my lap! emoticon

And so I sit here - Max has decided to go outside! - and finish off 'sparking', going to retire to bed soon. I have come a long way in the last few days from being is a lot of pain earlier in the week, to feeling ok. Yesterday I moved another 2 bales of sugar cane mulch. I won't get all the garden mulched before I go, but I will get some more done tomorrow I hope.

The count down is on - I still haven't packed - but I need to over the weekend! I have the camera batteries charged, a list (not sure where it is at the moment) of things to do, have printed out all the accounts that need to be paid for church and have our accounts (just a few) in a pile to pay over the internet.... then pack.... go out for dinner tomorrow night for our eldest son's 41st birthday, watch his son play soccer on Saturday morning, maybe go to watch another grandson play Rugby League on Saturday afternoon, church Sunday morning, soccer Sunday afternoon ....have my eyelashes tinted tomorrow and eyebrows waxed (can't see without my glasses to pluck them) and those pesky hairs that grown on the chin .... Monday hairdresser for cut and colour and then bone density scan at midday Monday ... Phew .... I had better get cracking!

No call from the doc re the mammogram or blood test - so I take that as a positive - no news is good news - the surgery I go to are very quick in phoning you when the doc wants to see you re the results of tests!

So off to bed .... good night all

emoticon emoticon It's good that you are able to balance the good with the bad , the comings with the goings. You're right; it's all a part of life--but no less difficult.

WOW, My Goodness you are busy ....... so sorry to hear of your cousin's passing, I know it is hard, and my prayers are with you and your family. I find it's best to always look at the happy memories rather than the loss, and at least it has made you all want to get together again, you are right, it makes us think of the need to appreciate and love each other and have more get-togethers.

On the brighter side though Sandy, good for you and the weight loss, that is tremendous! Now, can you do the same while you are away I wonder, tee-hee. I know vacation eating can be tough to stay on top of. I am going to Victoria (British Columbia - about 1200 miies away) for 10 days a week from this Saturday, so already worrying about the eating too!

Will you be doing this website while you are gone? You have been to Thailand before if I recall correctly. I would love one day to go there! How long are you gone for?

I we don't 'chat' before you leave, take care of yourselves and have fun. Hope you make many happy memories ... and safe travels! Now I know you're busy, but get some rest BEFORE you go LOL !

So sorry about your cousin passing away. That can really affect you deep within and I'll be thinking of you. That is good news about your daughter's friend getting engaged. So many things can happen that break our hearts and then around the corner can come happiness. emoticon Max sounds like he's so easy to love, just like ours. Oh, and our Hope loves my lap the best too unless someone says, "Treat?"!! Have fun working off all those calories with all the errands you have to do! emoticon Karen
