Black and White

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

I joined Sparkpeople in January of 2012 and proceeded to lose a bunch of weight and achieve my goal of swimming in the A swimming race that is over 2 miles long!

Success! I was so proud, I even won my age group! So, what did I do? I ate and drank myself to oblivion for the rest of the summer, gaining back 10 of the pounds I had lost in the first place. I am inclined to give up, keep eating, and drinking. Beer sure is good!

But, winning that race sure felt good too. But, eating right and exercising is so damn hard.

I subscribe to the "all or nothing" philosophy of life. Life is black and white, right? I am either in shape or out or shape, fat or skinny, going up or going down, successful or a failure, etc. There is no happy medium for me.

So, now I am trying to blog for the first time. They are pushing it hard on Sparkpeople, so I am going to give it a try. It has got to be better than hitting the fridge while I wait for my kids to fall asleep. Today is the first day in over two months where I wasnt over my calories for the day. I think this blog might have helped.

I wonder if anyone is listening.

We are listening. Blogging can be a form of self guidance or therapy for you to see just what is going on in your life.

Keep it up and know that you can use it as just another tool along this everasting journey.

  Hi Marilyn! I heard you.

Congrats on not going over your calories today!! Celebrate all the milestones, even if they seem small, they are all worth celebrating.

I wish you lots of luck on your journey!

I figure we're all on a healthy lifestyle journey, and we all hit bumps in the road sometimes (heck, sometimes I've wandered off the road ENTIRELY!). The IMPORTANT thing is that we pick ourselves back up and head in the right direction. Know there are lots of us right alongside you, cheering you on!
