Been MIA but Losing Weight like no other!!!
Wednesday, August 15, 2012
For the first time in my life, I am losing a tremendous amount of weight and quickly! Last weeks doctor visit I was at 211 lbs, today I was 208 lbs and this has been the trend for the past month. I made some major changes that include the following:
No grazing when I'm cooking - had a terrible argument with my husband over this, I felt ashamed and didn't realize how bad it was. I imagine my grazing was about 600 calories extra a day, unaccounted for. Although I don't like the falling out my husband and I had, it sure did open my eyes and now I feel like I'm being watched all the time so its keeping me on my toes. Not ideal but its working!
I don't cook dinner after work anymore, my husband does - the falling out we had brought some points up, another plus to an argument. You gotta see the good in the bad. He cooks great food, very healthy, thoughtful and he enjoys cooking, so why the hell was I coming home after work to cook dinner? I get home at 7:30, dinner is usually 8:30 and half the time, I'm not even hungry. With my husband taking on the role as Stay at Home Dad, he needed to be advised this is also part of his job now. So he cooks dinner, I eat when I get home only if I'm hungry, otherwise it goes to work with me the next day. Its freedom for me and I love it!
I bought the bullet! I drink only one smoothie a day and sometimes two on my days off. Its the Nutri Bullet, like the Magic Bullet, same company. I pack it with kale/spinach/fruit/nuts/protei
n powder/omega 3 seeds...it is awesome! It looks less than desirable but I'm eating raw kale for the first time in my life on a daily basis and it taste so damn good. I feel fuller and healthier. My body requires less food and feels less hungry due to all of the natural fiber and natural nutrients. My body is happier! On most days I'm getting around 1300 calories a day.
I stopped taking Iodine - I always love the high of the nascent iodine but I read a book on metabolism and hypothyroid. I learned a lot and saw that iodine is often what people take for a pick me up, its even in some of the thyroid medication prescribed by doctors. So I stopped taking it and low and behold, the weight just kept dripping off and I have decreased my overall exercise. I'm not saying that is the right thing but I've been very busy with some big life changes.
Stressed but happy! We are moving to Chico in three weeks. It's been an amazing roller coaster and everything has worked out surprisingly well. We found the perfect home in all aspects and I spend my days off packing and cleaning for our move. The energy from this move has me on my toes, I'm thrilled to be going home, closer to my mom, closer to my family, closer to my friends of which I have not seen in over 18 years. We are all very excited that I'm coming home. But the stress of it all has crashed my appetite but to that I say Thank you God!
So the sparkpeople training wheels have come off, I don't track anything, I don't make sure I'm getting in my exercise and I am losing about 3 lbs a week. Eventually I will kick this into high gear but its going to have to wait until after I move...and then I will have space for all of my exercise equipment to get my groove on. And I will be maintaining a garden at our new home, lots of wonderful activity and healthy organic food in the works!
Cheers to all!
