Went to the gym at lunch today. I go to the city's community center because for me, a city employee, it's $2.50 a month. Bargain, am I right? I really like the facility anyway so that is just a bonus. It's never too crowded when I've been, but today NO ONE was in the cardio room, the whole time from noon to 1 that I was working out. There were people playing basketball on the court below and to the front of the cardio room, but otherwise sweet solitude. So the whole point is, when I worked out it was super relaxing and basically solo.
I have been doing run/walks on the treadmill. I wear a t-shirt over a tank top, and am usually uncomfortable because I don't like the feeling of the t-shirt touching my chest and throat (I know, I'm odd). Today, I pulled that t-shirt off and was rocking the heck out of that tank top. Didn't care, no one was there to see! I usually run at a 4.7-4.8 mph range. After the first run period of 4.8 it felt too easy, bumped it up to 4.9. Still felt easy. During the walk phase, my heart rate would slow to around 160, so I bumped it up more to 5 mph. YOU HEAR THAT?!?! I was doing 12 minute miles for the first time in years! And I was doing it pretty comfortably!!! At the end of the workout, I wasn't exhausted or sick or tired. I just felt fulfilled and awesomely sweaty!
So I am basically blogging to talk about the best workout I've had since starting Sparking. I was comfy, I had some privacy, I had energy and felt great. Even better, I weighed in before I worked out and found I had lost another 4 pounds, for a total of 20 pounds lost since starting to track this stuff! WOWZERS!
