Seven Weeks.

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

I am at around a seven week streak exercising. I have been making it priority, and almost feel bad on my rest day that I'm not working out. I have been getting up early in the morning to run, and if I can't drag my backside out of bed, I have been doing it in the evening. I have been running 3 days a week - and cross training every other day for three days (Zumba, Strength Training, Yoga), then resting on Sunday.

My weight has been up and down the entire time. The lowest I have seen it in this seven week stretch was 192.4. Until this morning.

So I got up to run this morning. I was tired. I wanted to sleep longer, but M had told me before we fell asleep last night that he was proud of me for how persistent I had been in running, and that gave me the little boost I needed to roll out of bed. Hobie is getting used to the routine, and got up with me to go potty before it was time to go. He loves our runs. Some might say he's just a dog... but I adore him. I can't let him down.

As I was jogging my pants felt loose. I thought I was hallucinating until I had to pull them up a couple of times. I completed my 1.6 mile route in 26 minutes (new personal best), meaning that I am now doing around 16.25 miles per minute. It may be slow by some standards, but it is wonderful compared to the 17.25 I started out with seven weeks ago. I AM becoming a runner.

I finished my run, then jumped in the shower. I went about my morning, kicking myself in the butt because I should have been up earlier to get the girls ready for school, etc. When I was getting dressed, my clothes felt like they fit me better. So when I got to work, I stepped on the scale to see if I had lost anything. On Monday it read 195.6. Imagine my shock when the scale now read 189.6. Under 190. Wow. I have been exercising for 7 weeks, and I chose to eat healthier on week 7 and suddenly drop some weight. I stepped on the scale again to see if it was a fluke. Nope. Still 189.6. WOW.

This is working. I can do this. I will stick with this. I will ROCK THIS!

I tried yoga last night. The ROCK IT team asked that we do it 2x a week, and showed us the link to Hulu where it can be done... FREE. I have chronic back pain. Upper and lower. So I chose to do a back strengthening set of Yoga last night. After my run this morning... my back is feeling noticeably better. I still have minor pain, but it is so much better than it was yesterday. I am in awe, and ready to do some yoga again... maybe even tonight if I have time..

I am so happy. I feel like I have found something that works. I am going to keep pushing toward my goal. For the first time in a long time I feel like I can do this.... YES!

P.S. I don't like Portabello burgers. They're all mushy. The taste wasn't too bad, but the texture was just gross. BUT! I tried it!!!

Yay! I wish I could give you a big hug!! I'm so happy for you. And a dog is never just a dog. I hate when people say that. I ABSOLUTELY ADORE my Ally!! I get teary all the time just thinking about the day. It seems like everybody's pets are passing lately around me and it scares me for Ally who is almost 12 years old.
OK totally brought the clouds on that sunshine post! Aaah! Sorry!! lol!
SO PROUD OF YOU!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Awesome!

Don't sweat your speed, you're still going faster than everyone sitting on the couch!

And good for you for trying the mushroom burgers, even if you didn't like them. I've always told my kids they don't know what they will like until they try it; fortunately neither has ever been a supremely picky eater (I swear it is because I gave them anything & everything as baby food before they knew any better. The daycare thought I was insane for making their food myself but they did get exposed to a MUCH wider variety of foods than the typical Gerber baby).

Though we cannot depend solely on the scale, it feels SOOOO good when it goes down! Keep up the good work girl - persistence pays off. Changing things up gives the body a boost. I have been eating less calories the last week and lost another 3 pounds this mornng when I got on the scale myself, so wearing a smile with you.

YES!! I love this - congrats! Sometimes it just takes time for the scale to really MOVE. Woohoo! I love that your clothes are fitting better too! I'm going to have to try that hulu yoga stuff. I only have Wii yoga that I don't really like that much.
