Review of "10 lbs down Total Body Blast" by Jessica Smith

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

Hello!

I just wanted to write a quick review about this dvd because I know dvd reviews have helped me in the past and I wanted to help people decide if this is the dvd for them!

Instructor- The instructor is Jessica Smith. I really really like her and that is saying alot. She is motivating but not in a "if you don't kill yourself you accomplish nothing" kind of way. She gives you options which I like and she has a happy personality but not the over the top I'm on uppers happy. I really like her queing. I found it easy to follow. There were several stretch breaks which you will be thankful for!

Workouts- This dvd comes in 3 workouts that are 20 minutes each. One for arms, one for legs and one for abs. I decided to do all 3 for a "total body blast" workout. The moves are high rep/low weight. I used a 5 lb weight and that was fine for the whole workout. She works every muscle in both arms and legs. I found the moves non complicated which was nice but advanced enough to feel the burn. There wasn't alot of repeating the same moves which is nice. That way if you don't like something you only have to not like it 1x compared to 2 or 3! The ab workout was good. Had a variety of moves. She worked all parts of the abs and the back.

Arms- She did bicep curls, rows, shoulder work and there were some pushups..etc
Legs- She did lunges, squats, deadlifts..etc
Abs- We did regular crunches, cross crunches, ab circles and at the end there were some butt moves as well.

Overall pros/cons- I really enjoyed this workout and I did all 3 for 60 minutes. I will admit my attention was whaning towards the end. But that is to be expected when you are approaching the hour mark. I think I will just combine arm/legs from now on for a nice 40 minute workout. And you can choose each workout separately or do all 3.

The only con that I can come up with is the warm up and cool down weren't very long. BUT if you are only workout out for 20 minutes you can really have a 5 minute warmup/cool down and I did feel warm enough to workout. You just might have to do a little bit more stretching at the end if you are an avid stretcher.

I will be adding this dvd to my regular workokut routine. I think if you were to do this 2-3x/wk you would definitely see results!

If you are interested in this dvd you can always get it from Amazon, collage video or any other website where workout dvds are sold!

If you own this already or decide to purchase it let me know if you like it and if you have any specific questions feel free to ask!

Thanks for the review! I think for the attention whaning, how about after end of each 20-min workout, do a short cardio - jump rope, jump jack, run at one spot, burpees, etc etc :D

I like that ideas of high rep, low weight and continusly do all workouts for different body part :D Alternatively, I think I can do low rep, high weight in 15-min each of the workout and do 5-min jump rope after each of them so I can get 60-min worth of workout!
