Changes Can Be Shocking

Before my illness in February 2012 (where one of the things they diagnosed me with was GERD) I use to drink pop all the time. Dr.Pepper was my favorite of all time and I wanted to drink a bottle everyday. Sometimes more especially if I had cans at my disposal. It seemed almost like a drug where I felt cranky if I didn't have my regular pop/caffeine fix. It was one of the hardest things to give up for me. I wanted to follow the GERD rules so I did and I had not drank any regular pop in 7 months. I think I only had diet pop a few occasions as well. This was achievement.
I decided that I would like to treat myself to some regular pop because I felt I was finally at a place where I could have it once awhile. I tried a few sips and I couldn't believe it. I actually do not like it anymore. This was not only pop but my favorite Dr.Pepper. It just didn't taste right, it tasted way too syrupy and the carbonation I found unpleasant. I was so shocked by this because I coveted pop for the last 7 months. I even gave it away and did not bother to drink it.
I think the important thing I took away from this is that changes can be shocking. You might not realize how your body changes when you fill it with health. It adjusts and expects better from you. It really follows your lead. I never dreamed one of my beloved yet bad for you things would become undesirable. Now I cannot say the same for pizza unfortunately LOL. In the beginning changes may seem difficult and restricting but if you give it a real chance you might find yourself surprised.
