My plans fell through with a friend today, but the forecast was for beautiful weather all day, so I am proud to say I took full advantage of it! After breakfast I hopped on the subway to Coney Island and soaked up the sun for a couple hours. I didn't get to go in the water because I didn't want to leave my stuff unattended, but I just enjoyed my surroundings and getting the opportunity to relax.
After returning home, baking banana bread (vegan, of course!), and preparing the roasted eggplant and lentils for tonight's dinner, I headed out for a wonderful long run. It was great running in less than 90% humidity for a change! I went out with the intention of doing 6+ miles, but had a less clear idea of the route I would take. I didn't think I'd manage two loops of the park because there's a pretty tiring hill in that scenario. But there I was hitting the loop for the second time, coming to the point where I could fork off and avoid the hill, and instead I chose to keep on course. I conquered that hill and went on to finish an 8.1-mile run with an average pace faster than any of my last 20 runs! I feel great and accomplished, and needless to say, like this -->
I'm so excited that I'm getting back in running shape. Another half in October sounds very likely. Woo hoo!
