Inner Chaperone

Sunday, August 12, 2012

I'm reading a book right now that is helping me perceive life's blessings and I've discovered that it's easy to be blinded by the emotional upheavals of menopause! emoticon If only I had eyes to see, I'd lay hold of the serendipitous moments of life and embrace them as surprisingly wonderful instead of gloomily passing my days in despair and feeling sorry for myself in the process!!!!

So, I'm PRAYING that I have eyes to see the beauty and ears to hear the melodies of the GOOD life!! This kind of LIVING reverberates in my heart and shouts a loud YES in my spirit! Joy is sensing miracles EVERYwhere and uttering thanksgiving for each and every touch from above, to the swarming of the hummingbirds at our feeder, to the smiles on my children's faces, to the gentle summer breeze, to the tastiest berries from our garden--embracing all these wonders of life with awe and great pleasure.

So I want to share some of the author's thoughts that have sparked me today.

"…moderation is not deprivation. "ENOUGH is a banquet"…"

WOW, I just LOVE this thought! Enough is a banquet! Isn't that a VERY wonderful thought as we learn to eat moderately! "…how much more we'll enjoy it if we eat judiciously, drink moderately, spend rationally, and don't do anything that you would come to regret." She calls this the inner chaperone, but I like to think of it as 'walking in the Spirit' who empowers us to embrace ENOUGH as a banquet!!! Moderation is EMPOWERING, isn't it! We are in control of ourselves, which is a fruit of God's Spirit! We are not DEPRIVED--we are empowered! I just love this thought!

I feel sparked by her thoughts--hope it SPARKS your day.

Amen! The JOY of the Lord is our strength. Susan, I am finding that when I sing songs of praises in the morning as well as studying God's word it just makes such a HUGE difference. God says he inhabits the praises of his people and I feel his presence so strongly when I praise him for all his goodness and grace.

May your week ahead be filled with JOY!

Love you Sis!

Words of wisdom. Thanks for sharing. I've been thinking lately about how the Holy Spirit will led us in all things, if we only listen. And I need to listen in regards to my health. The inner chaperon will remind us that we have enough:-)
