Random Blogging

Sunday, August 12, 2012

It's been nearly 2 months since my last blog. A long time, I know, but I am an admitted procrastinator. (In fact, I am putting off my walk by blogging right now)

This morning I weighed in @184 pounds. That is a full 20 pounds lighter than when I joined SparkPeople and a total loss (from 1/1/2012) of 32 pounds! Yup.

This past week I participated in my second Virtual 5K here on SP. This was only 10 days or so after completing my first and I was determined to increase my speed dramatically. I was a fool. I did manage to shave over 2 minutes off my time (52:13 to 50:05) but was pretty much incapacitated for the remainder of the day and the whole next day. I'm back to walking at my base speed for now and have decided to allow my speed to increase in a more natural fashion from now on.

I discovered I have a slight obsession with the Olympics this year (I think the last time I actually watched an event prior to this year was back when that little girl destroyed her ankle while vaulting for USA Gold) and have watched more television in the past 2 weeks than I have in the better part of the year. I especially like any event that requires the men to wear Speedos emoticon LOL! Seriously, I have actually obsessed with watching Oscar Pistorius, the South African sprinter known as "The fastest man on no legs" Yeah, he is total eye-candy, but I find I am more impressed with his athleticism and his perseverance in making it to the Olympics.

I am currently struggling to find a replacement for my workout shoes (Saucony Echelon 2) because I have wide feet and only the online stores seem to carry stock in widths. I ordered the last pair online beacuse I have been wearing the brand for years and while they aren't bad, they aren't nearly as comfortable as I would like. I certainly wouldn't risk buying any other brand without trying them on first. Sizing is just way too inconsistent, just like women's clothing.

Clothing. Huh. I have to say I don't even know what size to try on anymore. Do I shop in the ladies section or in womens? Not that it matters, except for wasting time spent trying on things that don't fit one way or another.

Okay, that's enough time wasting for now. I have no idea when I'll blog again as it eats up more time than I plan and my computer seems to hate it. Rest assured, however, that I am still rooting for all of you even when I am quiet.

This was a fun post. I wish you blogged more often, but I guess I can hardly complain, ey! I do get curious about what route you're taking on your journey, with food and fitness, as well as inspiration... so if you're ever inclined, i'm all ears (or is it eyes on here?) ;)

I found Asics, Avia, and New Balance in wide width at Kohl's --none of them were wide enough, but perhaps this info can help someone else. I ended up ordering Saucony Kinvara 3's from Onlineshoes.com cause I had a 20% promo code. I'll post a picture when they come in--they are hot!
